Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) on Tuesday provided new details about the allegations facing Ronny Jackson, President Trumps embattled nominee to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Tester said the allegations against Jackson center on three things.
"Well they fall in three different areas: improper dispensing of prescription drugs, repeatedly drunk while on duty while traveling and creating a toxic work environment," Tester, the top Democrat on the Senate's Veterans' Affairs Committee, told NPR's "All Things Considered."
Tester's remarks are some of the most detailed public comments senators have offered since the decision to postpone Jacksons confirmation hearing.
He said the committee had heard from 20 individuals either actively in the military or retired from the military. Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) separately told reporters earlier Tuesday that number of individuals contacting the committee about Jackson was in the double digits.
"I think we heard the same story from enough people repeatedly that there's a lot of smoke there," Tester said.
Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) on Tuesday provided new details about the allegations facing Ronny Jackson, President Trumps embattled nominee to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Pressed on the three areas of allegations, Tester said Jackson allegedly created "an environment where the staff felt like they needed to walk on eggshells."
"Some of the exact words were that were used ... were abusive toward staff, very explosive personality. Belittles the folks underneath him. ... Screamed toward staff," he said.
Tester added that the allegations of drinking while on duty involve while Jackson was traveling.
"In the previous administration we were told stories where he was repeatedly drunk while on duty where his main job was to take care of the most powerful man in the world. That's not acceptable," he said.................................

Not only is he NOT qualified for such a huge and important position, but he has all this baggage that is finally coming to light. Why would anyone want to go through these hoops for in the first place?

(14,498 posts)tRump would drive anyone to drink and be temperamental, LOL.
Me thinks this guy is going down, down, down. No business near the VA. I suppose tRump's staff figured since their goal is to privatize the VA, who they appointed wouldn't matter. Same as the other incompetents they've placed in other areas.

Apparently he had a lot of people fooled
I don't think BO would nominate him for the VA without a thorough vetting though

(15,292 posts)If the immediate promotion verbiage isn't included, it means you are a dud and shouldn't/won't be promoted and should prepare for your life's work after the military. It's possible Jackson was below zone, meaning he was junior to the other officers competing to make flag (1 star Adm), though, too and that's why the language was there.

(CNN)During an overseas trip in 2015, Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson, the White House physician, was intoxicated and banged on the hotel room door of a female employee, according to four sources familiar with the allegation.
The incident became so noisy, one source familiar with the allegation told CNN, that the Secret Service stopped him out of concern that he would wake then-President Barack Obama.
Two sources who previously worked in the White House Medical Unit described the same incident, with one former staffer telling CNN that it was "definitely inappropriate, in the middle of the night," and that it made the woman uncomfortable.
At the time, the incident was reported up the chain of command, and it is one of multiple drunken episodes involving Jackson on overseas trips, according to a source familiar.

No conflict here at all.
