BREAKING: Three Shot, Including Two Police Officers, In Dallas

Two police officers were shot and critically wounded Tuesday in Dallas, police said.
The suspect has not been captured, reports TV station WFAA.
A civilian was also shot, but police said the person's condition was unknown.
The incident happened as the officers helped a security guard "responding to an incident" at a Home Depot store, WFAA says.

One Dallas police officer has died and another is critically wounded after they were shot Tuesday afternoon, according to KXAS, the NBC affiliate in Dallas. A civilian was also injured in the shooting.
The shooting happened in the 11600 block of Forest Central Drive.
Dozens of Dallas police officers and emergency vehicles have surrounded a Home Depot parking lot in the city's north side.
Helicopter video shows officers searching for the suspect in a nearby creek.

(4,516 posts)Our gun culture is a sickness. We need to repeal the second amendment because it has been bastardized into something that is at the root of the sick gun culture.
A well regulated militia does not mean any gun any time. Without the second amendment we can make sensible laws like the rest of the world does.
Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness trumps the second amendment.

People running around, wide open with guns is an insane idea.

(39,171 posts)Every cop I know views it as a people issue - they think the legal system is too easy on gun offenses. Focus on the violent people and the problem is diminished.

(7,220 posts)What we need is fewer guns out there, period. We need extremely strict gun laws with even stricter penalties for breaking them.
What we need is EXTREME VETTING...for gun owners. PROVE you're responsible. Pass background checks. Pass safety tests. Mandatory re-checking. Like the DMV, but less fun. Then we'll talk about you having a gun.
