(3,335 posts)It happens all the time when couples have been married for that length of time. Dying of a broken heart is a real thing.

(27,995 posts)I also think that sitting presidents as expected to offer one of the eulogies. But I'll bet the family won't request it.

So I still have some respect for the old man.

(63,912 posts)It so often happens when one long life couple loses a partner. I know I want to die in my husband's arms if I go first and he will die in mine I he goes first.

(9,350 posts)I do not think he is going to be here too much longer. I would not be surprised if he did not last the week or the month. I feel sorry for his family. If he does go soon, it will be hard to lose two loved ones in such a short period of time.

(20,878 posts)For one, the ADA is is a MANDATE which is much different than a law.
It did me no good when I got hit with a major disability. I was dumped from my job 6 weeks after the DX.
This man is no damn saint. He is a war criminal!!
He is responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent humans, thousands at least.
FailureToCommunicate
(14,023 posts)Sorry that the ADA didn't help you in your case...but it should have provided some recourse.
It is very definitely a civil rights LAW that MANDATES certain things.
Millions of people would disagree with you that it is merely a piece of paper.

(17,640 posts)...my dad is 92 with Parkinson as well.
One thing I have learned from all this ( oh yes my elderly aunt died the week before mom)....is EVERYONE get funeral insurance NOW!!! Get all your papers in order..preferably in one place........in a safety deposit box or somewhere so one doesn't have to crawl thru 45 yrs of accumulations to just bury you. Do you know where all the titles are to your cars?
The Bushes are lucky to have lots of help tending to their affairs but for the rest of us this can be a long hard task.
Godspeed Barbara...speedy recovery George...
