President Donald Trump's allies are preparing an extensive campaign to fight back against James Comey'spublicity tour, trying to undermine the credibility of the former FBI director by reviving the blistering Democratic criticism of him before he was fired nearly a year ago.

The battle plan against Comey, obtained by CNN, calls for branding the nation's former top law enforcement official as "Lyin' Comey" through a website, digital advertising and talking points to be sent to Republicans across the country before his memoir is released next week. The White House signed off on the plan, which is being overseen by the Republican National Committee.

"Comey is a liar and a leaker and his misconduct led both Republicans and Democrats to call for his firing," Republican chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement to CNN. "If Comey wants the spotlight back on him, we'll make sure the American people understand why he has no one but himself to blame for his complete lack of credibility."

7. Comey was Backed Into a Corner

By Rudy Guiliani and his pals at the FBI’s New York office. That's were the blame needs to be laid. They had Elliot Spitzer’s computer for over 30 days. They knew there were HRC’s emails on it, but didn’t do any forensics on it. They threw it back at Comey, who had no choice but to “re-open” the Investigation 11 days before the election. It only took about 48 hours for his group to determine the emails were duplicates. It was Rudy & his gang that used Comey to soil the election.

8. I totally disagree. Comey didn't have to deal with anything right before the election

and he certainly didn't have to make it public.

The FBI is not supposed to operate on such a public footing. Comey should never have held that ridiculous press conference back in July.

The facts as I laid them out? I don’t understand. Comey told Congress that if any new information came to light, he would have to re-open the Investigation. Rudy and the right-wing zealots at the NY FBI office knew that, and played Comey (and the Nation).
What went on in July should have given HRC ‘s Campaign more than enough time to overcome any “damage”. That’s on them, not Comey.

11. FBI policy is not determined by what is said at congressional hearings.

In any event, Comey could have waited until after the election. He certainly didn't have the right to publicize what was going on. What Comey did was outside DOJ guidelines.

And there was no way to prepare for Hurrricane Comey. All Clinton could do was run her campaign. Nothing she did was going to prevent Comey's actions, or mitigate them. Not that it is reasonable to expect that of a candidate. The fact that we are living in an era where people suggest that is what scares me so much.

All Comey had to do was act normal for an FBI director. He didn't do that, and it turned the election upside down--repeatedly.

Last nite, I checked out his book on Amazon, and there was a warning in the reviews that the paperback version is fake - there is no paperback of his actual book yet.
