Trump asked CIA official why drone strike didnt also kill targets family
Source: The Hill
President Trump reportedly asked an official at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) why they didnt kill a terrorist target's family during a drone strike.
The Washington Post reported Thursday after watching a recorded video of a Syrian drone strike where officials waited until the target was outside of his familys home, Trump asked, Why did you wait?
The agencys head of drone operations explained to an unimpressed Trump there are techniques to limit the number of civilian casualties.
Trump called for the CIA to start arming its drone in Syria and reportedly asked for it to be started in days.
Trump said on the 2015 campaign trail that he would take out the families of terrorists.

(4,066 posts)His base will be quite happy with this.
I can hear them now very happily supporting him: "Get 'em all Donnie. Kill them terrorist babies and mommies so they don't grow up to be terrorists or drop more of 'em outta their terrorist (insert plural c-word here)." That is the way they all think. Just like 45 thinks. That's why they love him. He IS them when it comes right down to it.
On Edit: The sad thing is that until we stop this madness that we perpetrate in the Middle East their twisted logic is correct. Because we are creating more and more terrorists every day with our actions. This will just add to it.

(4,533 posts)It is also a war crime to kill on purpose without military reason innocents. Military personnel would refuse Trumps orders, in my opinion. They know it is murder and a war crime and that following orders would be no excuse.

A few military personnel -might- refuse (assuming they knew of the intended targets). If they refused to follow orders they would be easily replaced. There are enough people in the military* willing to do shameful things that the search wouldnt take too long.
The people who end up carrying out these war crimes will do it without fear of consequences. How many involved with Bush the Lessers rendition/torture program paid any price? There was one low-level enlisted man, I think, that served time, out of the hundreds of people involved in that abomination.
*not disparaging our military in general; Im a retired vet.
