Sacramento sheriffs cruiser hits woman during Stephon Clark protest and speeds away, video shows
Source: Washington Post
SACRAMENTO A 61-year-old woman was struck by a police vehicle as it peeled away from protesters demonstrating against the police killing of Stephon Clark in what was described by the victim and protesters as a hit and run.
Wanda Cleveland, a local activist, was hit in her right leg and taken to a hospital, where she was treated for injuries to her arm and back of the head and released.
Marchers had taken to the street on Saturday night, part of days-long protests in the wake of the killing of Clark, 22, an unarmed black man fatally shot by police on March 18 in Sacramento. Demonstrations have been particularly tense since Thursday, when an independent autopsy report concluded that Clark was struck eight times, mostly in the back. The incident was recorded on police body cameras.
In a video published by ABC10, a throng of protesters took to busy Florin Road south of downtown Sacramento chanting slogans, including Say his name! Stephon Clark! among moving traffic. A group of what appears to be around two dozen people approach a Sacramento County sheriff police cruiser and surround it. When people are occupied, resistance is justified the crowd chants.

Fire them all, re-start the agency. All patrol is too tribal, got to break it up or it's useless.

(23,375 posts)Was it a hit? Or a push?
Was it a fall? Or a "flop"?
Unclear to me, after watching it a few times.
Still, it's worth getting an attorney.

(53,957 posts)And compare the speed that the second cop car, the one that hit her, was traveling to the first cop car that was carefully making it's way through the crowd.
That second car was clearly speeding for such a crowed, protestors-on-foot situationnoting unclear about that.
