Reported explosion in Austin, authorities say
Source: CNN
(CNN) Austin police and EMS on Sunday evening confirmed a reported explosion on Dawn Song Drive. Two males in their 20s were transported to a hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, Austin EMS said via Twitter.
The latest explosion comes less than a week after police said three package explosions that happened over 10 days were connected. Those explosions killed a man and teenage boy and severely injured an elderly woman. It's not clear if Sunday's explosion is related to the previous events.

Investigators are examining connections between the two black victims, who both belonged to prominent African-American families. Officials said investigators were also looking into the possibility that the bomb that wounded the Hispanic woman may have been intended for someone else, but that nothing definitive had been established.
Chief Manley said on Sunday that the combined rewards offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case had been increased to $115,000, from $65,000.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Two people were injured in another explosion in Texas' capital Sunday night, after three package bombs detonated earlier this month in other areas of the city and killed two people and injured two others.
Austin-Travis County Emergency Management Services reported that an explosion in southwest Austin injured two men in their 20s who were hospitalized with injuries that didn't appear to be life-threatening.
There was no immediate word on what caused the blast or if it was related to the previous ones. Those blasts began when a package bomb exploded at an east Austin home on March 2, killing a 39-year-old man.
Two more package bombs then exploded March 12, killing a 17-year-old, wounding his mother and injuring a 75-year-old woman.

We here are apparently dealing with a skilled maniac.

(45,667 posts)at least some news outlets acknowledge the victims of previous bombings were minorities.
They haven't identified the 2 victims today yet, but I would rather not assume they were the perps until more information is released. Police have stated the bomb maker has very advanced knowledge of bomb making and changes tactics to avoid detection.
I'd like to see DUers to start using the word terrorist for these attacks until the perp is proven white. Then we can have the "But he doesn't have a political agenda" discussion and work through people's uncomfortability with acknowledging white terrorism.
Pretending it doesn't exist, doesn't help.

(19,569 posts)The victims were white, on bicycles, either walking or riding them at the time. They believe they hit a tripwire and set the bomb off.
They're saying this is a sophisticated bomber.
