LAPD: Los Angeles man arrested in connection to deadly 'swatting' call in Wichita

Source: ABC Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Police Department confirms it's arrested 25-year-old Tyler Barriss, of Los Angeles, in connection with Thursday night's deadly "swatting" call in Wichita.

The LAPD says Barriss was arrested Friday afternoon.

Information from the City of Glendale, Calif. shows that in October 2015,
Barriss was arrested in connection with making a bomb threat to ABC Studios in Glendale.

Now let’s see if they can make this stick. He’s slippery, but he did a phone YouTube interview earlier today that should help link him to the call. I will say the voice on the 911 call and the interview were very alike. I’m hoping the FBI can do something with that, and they have all his social media to use as well.

He also claimed to be the one who called in the FCC bomb thread in the interview. Take it with a grain of salt. This is a sick attention seeking individual after all.

A link to both the alleged phone interview, and the 911 call! Yeah, I’m really that cheap and pathetic.

I’ve followed his claims previously including this current shocking one. He, per his social media, cannot seem to accept responsibility. To him it was all about getting attention. No matter the consequences. It’s a weird, sick game.

There’d been strong suspicions the guy from the LA ABC claim and the Dallas bomb claim were both him for some time. All while he was claiming to be swating people. Honestly, I only heard of the FCC one today per his interview, but it doesn’t surprise me, yet it may be him bragging and not true. Same with the Dallas incident. We’ll see if it all holds up to his current level of scrutiny. He’s about to get a very extreme look into everything he’s ever done in the past. Be it real or imagined.

That guy should never have been shot. To read the Witchita police statement, the shooting is not their fault because the call was fake. While I agree Barriss holds some responsibility, it was not his police procedure, weapons, or officer that shot an unarmed man.

Reading the story, it sounds like once again, the cops were too trigger-happy and an innocent person died.

A cop should not be able to come to your home and shoot you for no good reason - and get away with it.

They should both be arrested. But the cop is the one who actually shot an unarmed man in his own home, and chances are he will suffer no consequences.

I always think twice before I call them, and I don't let them off the line until I'm certain they understand the situation. I won't call them at all for the small shit, kids painting graffiti on my back wall, etc.. I've seen the police shoot people.

The police in this case are as culpable as the idiot gamer.
