In an interview with The New York Times Thursday, Trump was asked if he would re-open an investigation into former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clintons email use during her time as secretary of state.
"I have absolute right to do what I want to do with the Justice Department. But for purposes of hopefully thinking Im going to be treated fairly, Ive stayed uninvolved with this particular matter," Trump said. Trump also said during the interview it was too bad that Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Trump compared Sessions to former President Obamas attorney general, Eric Holder.
I dont want to get into loyalty, but I will tell you that, I will say this: Holder protected President Obama. Totally protected him, Trump told The Times. When you look at the things that they did, and Holder protected the president. And I have great respect for that, Ill be honest.

Furthermore, many of them are probably in complicit and trying to protect themselves by protecting him to advance their agendas of screwing the American people over as much as they can WHILE THEY CAN till he's hauled out of office kicking and screaming.

(3,515 posts)The purpose and content of the Constitution is limitation on and definition of the powers of each branch of government including the executive branch that he leads.
The office of the president is very limited in its authority. Trump seems to think that as president, he has the authority of the owner of a privately held company. He doesn't. He doesn't even have as much authority as the CEO of a publicly held company. The Constitution says that he can be impeached. The Constitution gives Congress most of the authority.
Trump may not really like the limitations that the Constitution places on him, but they are the law, so he had better deal with them.
We are a nation ruled by laws, not by personalities or great leaders. Trump needs to respect the limitations of his position. Every president has to do that. It hasn't been a problem before, not in my lifetime, and I was born when FDR was president.
