Senate passes tax bill, teeing up final House vote

Last edited Wed Dec 20, 2017, 05:15 AM - Edit history (2)

Source: Politico

The Senate cleared the Republican tax overhaul late Tuesday, but it will have to go back to the House for another vote after a procedural glitch.

The House is set to take up the $1.5 trillion package of tax cuts and tax code revisions again Wednesday morning and send the bill to President Donald Trump, who is expected to sign it before the week is out. That would give Republicans their first major legislative accomplishment since he took office.

How Every Senator Voted on the Tax Bill

By JASMINE C. LEE and SARA SIMON DEC. 19, 2017

The Senate voted 51-48 on Wednesday to pass the Republicans’ tax overhaul bill in a party-line vote.

McCain didn't vote, so it was 51 GOP votes for the bill.

Doug Jones still neets to gets certified to replace Luther Strange. Luther Strange is still seated as Alabama's Senator and he voted for the bill.

All Republicans are. They don't get money from individuals like Dems do. Rachel was talking tonight about how 7 rich families control the Republican party.

If so, I hope the midterms result in a Democratic majority in Congress (well, that seems to be needed anyway!)

Sympathies from one country gone nuts, to another seemingly gone even more nuts!

You may like to know that in the UK, 'trump' means 'fart'.

I'm going to try to help flip as many Republican districts in California as possible. Darrel Issa is very flippable but he voted against (he's in the House) the tax plan because they didn't need his vote and he knows how horrible this will be for his constituents in his district.

There are 52 Republicans in the Senate. Only one, McCain, didn't vote (he is out due to cancer). Every single one of the remaining Republican miscreants voted Yes, and they only needed 51 votes to pass it.

Trump IS a fart. And a national embarrassment.

It would have been disingenuous as the Bill still would have passed and he would have financially benefited from it, but he would have voted on behalf of his constituents.

Corker couldn't explain to Wolf Blitzer last evening why he changed his vote and why the $1.5 trillion to the Deficit no longer mattered.

I'm starting to think that maybe Russia has dossiers on all the Republican senators and they were threatened or their families were threatened if they didn't vote as commanded.

OK people, time to move on. yup the right winger shits are trying to destroy our country, well too bad for us democrats. Elections have consequences, and we are now seeing what those consequences are. Tax cuts for the rich, right wingers on the courts, possible cuts to medicare, SS, medicaid, the elimination of the ACA.... yup too bad. I know many say stop beating a dead horse, but interesting how some of this investigation is now shifting to the Green party and Jill Stein, so any Green party voters who took away for the democrats... eat shit. Did you skip the election in 2016? Didn't want a woman president?, felt that Hillary was not going to be a good president? hmmmm how is that working for you? eat shit... Hey Trump supporter that make less then 1 million a year... are you pissed yet that Fuckump has basically fucked you over so many times?, yeah hes making American great...on your backs.. you are the ones who pulled the lever, wrote the black dot, pushed the button, how is that working for you.....

Stop the bitching people, minority party is just the MINORITY... nothing you can do unless filibuster in Senate..... time to stop this electing that same democrats in office that offer NOTHING to our party... Pelosi, Schumer, Gillibrand.... Primary them... get them out, put in new progressives that will help us with our lives, not padding theirs.

Frankin railroaded, no investigation, due process..... eat shit...

..our side should be screaming about this and making them in whatever way we can.

We had to hear for 8 years how there's "No possible way!!!" we could go around the filibuster without using reconciliation. And how "It HAS to be deficit neutral!!!". And within 1 year we've now seen that thrown out the window without people on our side screaming from the rooftops on every single news show about this "End run around the process" or whatever else.
