Trump predicts exoneration in Russia investigation as allies fear a 'meltdown'

Source: CNN

Until those next signs emerge, Trump is boasting to friends and advisers that he expects Mueller to clear him of wrongdoing in the coming weeks, according to sources familiar with the conversations. The President seems so convinced of his impending exoneration that he is telling associates Mueller will soon write a letter clearing him that Trump can brandish to Washington and the world in a bid to finally emerge from the cloud of suspicion that has loomed over the first chapter of his presidency, the sources said.

This account of how Trump and his senior staffers are privately grappling with the Russia investigation is based on interviews over the past week with nearly three dozen White House officials, lawmakers, outside advisers, friends of the President and sources familiar with the Mueller probe. It depicts a president genuinely convinced of his innocence and advisers preparing for him to explode early next year if the probe doesn't end as neatly as Trump expects.

"The President's mantra is 'All this Russia stuff, it's all going to wrap up soon.' He repeats it as fact," said one source who speaks to Trump. "Part of me is like -- 'Are you serious? You believe this?'"

-snip-

Three sources familiar with the President's recent conversations about the investigation said Trump has become convinced that he will receive a letter of exoneration, which would be unusual. One source worried Trump would have a "meltdown" if that doesn't happen.

"Trump has become convinced that he will receive a letter of exoneration"...

Sounds like Trump's becoming more delusional as Mueller closes in.

My mother still has them periodically. The first one I remember was when I was four years old. It involved a very angry neighbor, the sheriff, and my dad coming home from work early.

These days, she has no one to complain to except other elderly friends and a pastor who takes it with a grain of salt, for the most part. The pastor does think I am a monster, though. And a few years ago I received a crank call from one of her friends who refused to give me her name.

Everything is always someone else's fault. And stay out of the way. They can be dangerous.

I think that the orange asshole will choose to ignore the findings.

meaning, that he is so incredibly self absorbed that it just won't compute in his brain.

there won't be a moment of shock to him, because shock would be introspection.

he's completely incapable of that.

when and if it does "sink in", he will blow a gasket the likes of which we have yet to witness.

If reports are true that Trump doesn't use email, then he can claim that he had no knowledge or participation with any of it. He can claim that he didn't receive or send any of the thousands of emails. He will say it was all done by people around him and he knew none of the details. He will probably declare shame on them for what they have done and throw them under that bus he is driving.

I hope the Mueller team phrases their questions carefully.

Not to mention ... Mueller is GOP.

I submit to all of you that if you think there's NO CHANCE that Mueller can be bought off somehow (or threatened with firing, such that he'll lose his ability to go after ANY guilty parties), given the GOP's control of all 3 branches of power, essentially ... you're deluding yourselves.

Sorry, everyone ... it had to be said.

Mueller might very well be forced into a position where he has to let Trump and his inner cadre completely off the hook in order to nail ANY 'bad guys'. And he may very well decide that's the most advantageous course of action. C'mon, people here put faith in him, because its all we've got ... but we don't KNOW THIS GUY, any of us!

I cannot help but feel that Trump would've already fired this guy if he didn't SOMEHOW KNOW ... no serious shit against him is going to happen, it's just going to be some fall guys take some heat ... like Manafort.

And that's all we're gonna get. Just like it's all we got with Iran/Contra, and the WMD lies, and the Plame investigation, etc.

Our side never wins these battles, because the GOP are traitors, our politicians are total f***ing wussys, and we have a firmly entrenched Corporate Media in this country that will never really call a spade a spade. They have their advertisers to worry about.

Plus ... 30 years of brainwashed idiots, thanks to RW radio.

We ain't getting Trump out via Mueller, the only way we MAYBE get him out before 2020 ... is if we get the House back. Period.

Or ... side effects of one too many Big Mac attacks ...
