Protesters chain themselves to Pittsburgh building where U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey has office

Source: Pittsburgh Post Gazette

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Dec. 4, 2017

Two women who chained themselves to the Grant Street entrance of Downtown's Grant Building released themselves from the revolving doors at around 8:40 this morning, ending a small demonstration against U.S. Senator Pat Toomey's support for a controversial tax plan passed in the small hours of Saturday morning.

"Pat Toomey has basically betrayed his constituents by pushing forward on this tax bill that will hurt a ton of his constituents. It's really just helping his donors," said one of the two protesters, Lindsey Disler, of the Northside, as a couple dozen supporters looked on.

"It's not a done deal yet," she added, referring to the fact that differing House and Senate versions of the bill must be reconciled, with each chamber voting again. Republicans have expressed confidence that the reconciliation process will go smoothly, and it seems unlikely that Mr. Toomey would change his mind: He was among the most vocal supporters of the plan on the Senate floor. But Ms. Disler said she was there because "the situation is so catstrohpis and so dire, something has to be done."

Those working in the building, which houses Mr. Toomey's Pittsburgh office, were told to use a side entrance -- and to blame Mr. Toomey's vote for any inconvenience. City police officers were on hand by 8:30 a.m., and after whispered discussions, Ms. Disler and fellow protester Chelsey Engel, of Dormont, unchained themselves to cheers from supporters. A banner reading "Toomey is a Traitor," which was taped over another pair of doors, was also taken down.

They elected Santorum and Toomey - twice - after all.

3. Toomey happened because of vote machine hacking

I'm certain that it will come out sooner or later that the GOP or the Russians hacked our voting machines in PA. The seat should have gone to Katie McGinty last year. The GOP got a 2-for-1 here, they got Toomey and Trump with one hack.

Santorum will never be re-elected in PA. He doesn't even live here anymore so he can't run as a Senator or Representative. The man is poison!

We have lots of Democrats in Pittsburgh, Philly, Harrisburg and Allentown areas. However they're evenly balanced with the conservatives in every other county in PA. Name a state that's not like that, there are very few.

McKinty was ahead all night, than all of a sudden it switchs to Toomey. You would think they would have been more suddle in hacking the vote.

The vote totals weren't hacked in PA. The most common voting machine in the state predates the internet and can't have external connections of any kind.

Rural rednecks believed the lies and came out to vote. I live in rural PA and there was a ton of Trumpian enthusiasm

Katie McGinty was leading in the polls. I'm sure they stole it for Trump and Toomey.

He wrote most of this terrible tax bill.

We were hacked. Paper ballots only from now on. We have to make sure we cannot be hacked - and we can have a recount if necessary.

He doesn't have constituents; he has owners.

Pennsylvanians could immolate themselves outside his office by the dozen and Toomey wouldn't bat an eye unless his masters wished him to do so.

In the photo you can see the woman's sign that says:

Hey Toomey - Corporations are NOT your constituents

I've called Toomey's office, and emailed several times over this tax bill and the repeal of the ACA.
He doesn't give a shit. Not even listening.

Typically I sum it up by noting that Toomey doesn't even pick up the phone unless it's preceded by a palette of $100 bills.

who were more than willing to vote for him and Drumpf yet ALSO vote for 3 Democrats for top statewide races of Supreme Court Justice, AG, Treasurer, and Auditor General. I.e., they split the vote rather than vote for 2 women - Clinton and McGinty.

17. penn residents can dump toomey by protesting these 3 universities
Mon Dec 4, 2017, 03:05 PM
Dec 2017

Penn St. 11, Pittsburgh 2, Temple 1 support 14 limbaugh stations that work for toomey, trump, and been instrumental in passing the tax horror.

they have no excuse for broadcasting sports on those stations.

if toomey paid $1000/hr for infomercial/ad time on those stations they're worth $75,000/week x 14 = $1,050,000/week ($1000 x 15 hrs/day x 5 days) in pro toomey pro republican bullshit FREE for them.

protesting those universities to get them to look for alternatives will scare the crap out of the GOP, get media attention, and scare off advertisers - many of those stations would have to go to other programming

... however that wouldn't get rid of Toomey.

We're stuck with him until 2022, unless we have a recall. That's the equivalent of impeachment and that's what we'd do for a Senator or Representative. It has only happened a very few times in US history, and I don't think it would happen now. He'd have to mess up really big-time for a recall to come about.

Or the Senate could kick him out, but they won't of course.
