Collins on support for GOP tax bill: I want to see what comes out of conference committee

Source: The Hill

BY BRETT SAMUELS - 12/03/17 11:27 AM EST

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said Sunday that there is no guarantee she will vote for Republican tax reform legislation once it comes out of a conference committee with the House, despite her support of the Senate version.

“No, I mean obviously I want to see what comes out. I believe that the amendments I added on medical expense deductions, on property tax deductions, on helping retirement security for employees improve the bill," Collins said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

The Senate passed legislation early Saturday morning to overhaul the tax code, approving the plan by a 51-49 vote.

The bill would lower tax rates for individuals through 2025 and permanently cut the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 20 percent. The bill’s tax cuts for individuals are temporary in order to comply with budget rules that the measure can’t add to the deficit after 10 years. The Senate bill also repeals ObamaCare's individual mandate, something the House bill does not do.

Dec 2017

While the bill is in Conference Committee, there's a better than even chance that Mueller will indict Kushner and Trumpy will go ballistic and attempt to fire Mueller. It won't work. But while that's happening, the GOPers will be testing the political winds and will notice that their chances of survival as a political party are in jeopardy if they continue with the tax giveaway bill. When push comes to shove, the GOPers will NOT pull the trigger on the gun that they're pointing to their own heads.

GOPers most want to mollify their donors by saying, "Yes, we really DID try to return your donation money in the form of tax giveaways. We REALLY DID TRY! Now keep showering us with more money and we'll try AGAIN during the next Congress!" It's the massive river of money that counts most. If GOPers can con their donors into keeping their money spigots open, then who cares whether the bill is passed or not?

18. You want too see what comes out of the committee.......................
Sun Dec 3, 2017, 01:40 PM
Dec 2017

let me give you a fucking clue, my Social Security and Medicare is going to be cut to off-set the 1.4 trillion dollar deficit.
You want to see what comes out of committee, I can't write off my state and federal taxes, such as property, my mortgage is going to be capped at $10,000 dollars deduction............

You want to see what comes out of committee, scholarships are going to be treated as "earned income" and I can't write off the expense or as a deduction.........

You want to see what comes out of committee on deducting hospital bills?..............
Right now you can not write off the deduction of your hospital bill unless you paid out over 7.6% in medical costs on your earned total income--------------100,000 in earned income, must have over $7600.00 in medical costs----------

Let me give you a basic math issue here Collins, in 1950 taxes on "earned income" was taxed at 90%, that money paid for schools, roads, hospitals, etc........................

Today the "earned income" is taxed at 39.5% ----------------that 50% decrease in revenue creates a deficit in the budget, who and the fuck do you think took that 50% decrease money, not me, I'm still paying for scam in 2008 bank scam--------------- .

That 50% was given to fucking CEO's, to buy back stocks and inflate the value of the oligarchy value-------------it s called shuffling money around between to firms not building sh*t , you know a ponzi scheme-----------------

In 1986 Collins, they did this same shit, they took the Interest from credit cards and interest from car loans to pay off shit, and let the credit card companies and the banks, keep the profit off that earned interest without paying one single dime into the treasury, not one-------------------- .

We the public could not and did not get the same break as the banks on those deduction, it was a means to attack the middle class, while a loop hole was created to let this "pass through" operate as income for the credit card and banks loans without being taxed, but we got taxed because we lost the deduction on the "Interest".

Have you figured it out yet................................

You want to see whats in the final bill coming out of the committee--------------in 1971 there is law on the books for real estate developers that can write off a development and not pay one single penny ---------------look at the orange traitor in the WH, the taxpayers in New York paid his taxes, he used his development as a loss, to create income----------can I do that-----------nope-------------------

You voted Collin to rob the future of the country, you need tax revenue to survive and to operate under, taking it from the earned money such as Social Security and Medicare that is taxed at the end of the year will not support your fucking scam if you are going to rob from the treasury, or from education, etc.................your math doesn't add up---------------in fact it adds down-------------------everything in this country should be taxed on earned income at 70%, that means if some fucking corporation wants to hide that earned income in a island------------no matter where it is, if you have business in this country it should be counted as earned income. because those assholes that have that money off shore use it for collateral, to buy back stocks to inflate there value---------------

And you Collins want to see what comes out of the committee--------------prior to voting did you read the bill hot off the presses from the fucking lobbyists that wrote it------------your know the ALEC assholes, it was after all 490 pages and the senate only had 25 minutes to read it---------------------you and others of your ilk should be voted out of office, you put party over country, it's that simple ------------your a disgrace

THIS should not have gotten any votes to go to conference -------------it should have died the day Liza Murkowski and others where sitting in the senate presidents seat, rocking back and forth--------------selling out the middle class and creating DEATH PANELS

You knew lady that it would gut the Affordable Care Act and you still voted to attack the individual mandate and then come out and put on some fucking disingenuous smiley face saying that basically capitalist competition will drive the health market down----------------BS, that was tried once before it was the healthy against the sick, that is AYN RAND

Collins, still opposed to removing the mandate, said she voted for the tax bill on Saturday after being assured by Republican leaders that they will support legislation to prop up U.S. health insurance markets.

What a goddam fucking idiot you are if you believe that

One of the Obamacare stabilization bills, co-authored by Republican Senator Lamar Alexander and Democratic Senator Patty Murray, would restore billions of dollars in subsidies that health insurers use to reduce out-of-pocket costs for low income Americans.

A second, co-authored by Collins and Democratic Senator Bill Nelson, would create an additional $4.5 billion fund to compensate insurers for covering health care for the sickest patients.

No health care expert thinks that is anywhere near enough for that

Still, health policy experts said both of those measures would be needed without a mandate repeal and would not make up for expected premium increases and the rise in the numbers of uninsured Americans.

"Neither of these bills would do anything to offset the increase in uninsured resulting from a mandate repeal," said Larry Levitt, health economist at the Kaiser Family Foundation. "The marketplaces would limp along without a mandate but it's probably not a stable place."
