Former Maine Senate candidate the fourth woman to say George H.W. Bush groped her
Source: Bangor Daily News
A fourth woman has come forward saying former President George H.W. Bush groped her, this time a state Senate hopeful, the Portland Press Herald reported.
Amanda Staples who was running as a Republican to represent the Kennebunkport area in the state Senate in 2006 said in an Instagram post the former president grabbed her butt during a photo opportunity at the time.
I rationalized it in my mind that he had become a dirty old man in his later years, Staples wrote in her post, in part, adding, Ive thought about this and if I had a daughter, Id never tell her to shrug it off because he was [p]resident. I can only imagine how many women have had their butt grabbed in a photo op.
The latest accusation apparently pokes a hole in Bushs initial explanation for the behavior, as a spokesman said that because hes been wheelchair-bound for five years, his arm naturally falls on the lower waist of the people with whom he takes pictures.

(37,044 posts)Apparently his family and staff have known about it.
What is wrong with his family/staff warning women about his sexual assaults?
Does his family/staff warn women or just allow it to happen?

(204 posts)out of sympathy--he was the father of one of her colleagues and had been a college professor of art. He was a recent widower and very old. Lying in bed, he exposed himself and made several inappropriate remarks. We attributed it to his declining state and never returned, as she found it very awkward and unpleasant, and so did I. Could it be that Bush, even as far back as 2006, was deteriorating mentally?

(5,604 posts)Inappropriate comments in her later years. A wheelchair bound 90+ year old man does not pose a scary threat to a woman. I find these circumstances different than a Weinstein who threatened to ruin a career or assaulted countless women.
