Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) slammed President Trump on Tuesday, saying he has abandoned his campaign promises to help working Americans.
Sanders told CBS This Morning that Trump is pursuing "very different" policies in the White House than he touted on the campaign trail.
"During the course of the campaign, he said 'I'm going to stand with the working people, I'm going to take on the pharmaceutical industry, and lower the outrageous price of prescription drugs," Sanders told CBS. "That's what he said. "During the campaign, he said one set of things, and the policies he is implementing right now are very different," he added.
The senator rattled off a list of campaign promises he said Trump had abandoned.

(37,458 posts)because the alternative was Hillary. Sanders or bust crowd still shoveling shit. The naive beliefs of Sanders that Trump would ever honor his promises is staggering. He has his people believing that right down to the convention floor he would prevail. Every last vote would drive him to the nomination.....how the hell did that work out?

Give me one example that indicates that Sanders "believed" that Trump would "honor his promises."
Everything I heard before, during and after the campaign was exactly the opposite. Sanders from the very beginning strongly denounced Trump's lying promises. He called him a "pathological liar" and gave specific examples. And after the election he has done nothing but criticize Trump for the lies he knowingly spouted during the campaign.
I know you are not alone in your dishonest criticisms of Sanders, and I suspect there's some ulterior motive in the criticism, but even assuming that you actually believe what you say, surely you can see that in a democracy no candidate can control what his supporters will do. There's obviously evidence that a small percentage of former Sanders supporters voted for Trump, but Sanders strongly supported Hillary after the primaries were over and implored his supporters over and over to go for HRC.
Why pick useless, illogical, dishonest fights with people who are honestly trying to fight for real liberal Democratic values?
I personally think Hillary won the election and lost because of voting machine rigging in WI and other northern states, some of which likely came because of Russian hacking. PA I believe doesn't even use "paper" in its voting. In other words, whoever programs or hacks or maliciously rigs the machines determines the outcome. But being hyper-critical of and lying about a fellow Dem is at the very least highly counterproductive.
That any politician left of Louie Gohmert believed in the myriad promises of Trump is a stupid notion.
That any politician shouldn't be calling him out on broken promises is not just stupid, but evil.
And likely dishonest.
