(11,533 posts)First off, the Governor of Louisiana asked President Obama as well as the presidential candidates to stay away so as not to be a disruption to emergency personnel and their ongoing operations. President Obama and Hillary Clinton honored that request. 45* went barging in for a photo-op and being the publicity hungry oaf that he is managed to get photographed handing someone a case of play-dough.
I have to wonder who wrote those tweets for 45*, he certainly isn't capable of anywhere near that much empathy or coherence by himself.

(47,748 posts)He was out there with a suit jacket on in that awful heat and only stayed long enough to get his pictures in the news. I do remember Obama staying away, so as not to interfere and Trump criticizing him for it.
I wonder if he's going to take some Play-Doh to Houston.

And she has to sleep with him. That's just lemon juice in the wound.

He will emerge either a callous, uncaring, you're-on-your-own conservative, or a big-spending Republican willing to spend whatever it takes Federal assets to help those afflicted.
There is no middle ground. Bones thrown to help will be perceived as such, federal spending is against all the cons' beliefs about small government.
There is no small money solution to this disaster. Gotcha!

(14,587 posts)You will see that in a much more refined way in Texas - you have a really plugged in good old boys network, much more smooth about this stuff than Louisianna.
While 45 bumbles around on Twitter over this, make no mistake, the vultures are having a big steak dinner making plans to bilk the tax players relief dollars.

(18,124 posts)and HE IS "a callous, uncaring, you're on your own (bigoted-racist) conservative" who will self aggrandize himself while gladly swimming in the misery of afflicted americans, no pun intended....

(12,165 posts)And Chuck Todd was interviewing the director of FEMA about what they're doing to help people in the affected areas. The first words out of the director's mouth? "President Trump" and then some nonsense about how much he cares. Just gross.

(9,426 posts)tRump has done nothing, yet this clown is praising him. Lets hope the southern states do not do what Chris Christie did after Hurricane Sandy, and hang onto to the funds that were supposed to go to victims for the response!!

We Still Dont Know How Many People Died Because Of Katrina
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/we-still-dont-know-how-many-people-died-because-of-katrina/
Ten years after Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast and the New Orleans levees failed, we still dont know how many people died in the storm and its aftermath.
The uncertainty about the death toll is evident in the variety of numbers being reported by the media. A local news station in Georgia: 1,200. AccuWeather: 1,800. Insurance Journal: more than 1,800. The New Orleans Times-Picayune: 1,833. A local news station in western Michigan: 1,836.
There is still no memorial listing the names of Katrina victims, still no way to know how many remain uncounted or unidentified, and still no agreement on how to count victims if a storm of Katrinas impact hits the U.S. again. Ten years on, were still in the dark.
