US to Stop Issuing Visas to Citizens From 3 African Countries, Cambodia

The United States plans to stop issuing visas to citizens from four countries that it says aren’t accepting deported citizens.

The list includes three African countries — Eritrea, Guinea and Sierra Leone — as well as Cambodia. The U.S. has suspended visas twice before under previous administrations in efforts to push deportations forward.

Last week, the Department of Homeland Security notified the Department of State that the four countries are refusing to accept or are unreasonably delaying the acceptance of nationals deemed to be in the United States illegally, a violation of section 243(d) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Now, the State Department is evaluating how to implement the order.

Pretty much any country on the planet would deport people that are there illegally. If you cross the border of Iran at any place other than a checkpoint, they're going to arrest you. And if you're VERY lucky, they'll deport you. If you overstay your visa in pretty much any country, they're going to kick you out. No country on the planet is going to be cool with it.
I'm sure the visa will start coming back once those countries hold up their end.

We are a threat to all life on the planet and need to be treated accordingly.

The sad part of that is there are people who need to come here, to survive. It used to be we were the place for that, but now a Nazi runs the show so no more.

Guinea and Sierra Leone aren't exactly horribly repressive regimes... but Eritrea ranks with North Korea as the worst of them.

If you won't take your citizens back after they commit some infraction of their visas or overstay their visas, we won't issue any more visas. Previous administrations have done this.

But Eritrea?

They rank with North Korea when it comes to a lot of things. But because it's a country in Africa, relatively new, with no oil and no nukes... it doesn't exactly get the West's attention because it's minding its own business.

Honestly, Americans should welcome anyone from Eritrea - one party government, no press freedom, indefinite military service.... we may bitch and moan about Trump but we seriously have it better than Eritrea. At least we can vote out Trump in 2020 and have a path to kick him out at any time. Isaias Afwerki? He's been president (or dictator if you prefer) longer than Bill Clinton, George W Bush and Barack Obama put together.
