The Secret Service had to pay thousands for portable toilets at Trumps New Jersey golf club

Trump has already stretched Secret Service resources quite thin and this new revelation doesn't help things
MATTHEW ROZSA

President Donald Trump forced the Secret Service to spend $7,100 on portable toilets while they protected him during his vacation.

During the president’s 18-day “working vacation” at his Bedminister, N.J. golf club, the Secret Service needed to spend $7,100 on portable restrooms, according to a report by USA Today. The story first came out after a purchase order was flagged by the progressive PAC American Bridge.

Apparently the Secret Service had to sign a contract with Imperial Restrooms to provide their agents with trailers so they could relieve themselves. While this expenditure may seem bad enough, it is made worse when you consider that the Secret Service also had to spend $13,500 on golf cart rentals for the same August trip.

According to USA Today, the Secret Service is legally required to pay for resources like portable toilets because they are prohibited from accepting funding or other resources that were not specifically appropriated by Congress.

A democracy going down the toilet is my greatest concern. The Tsar is jumping for joy and the Republicons are gleeful.

Drumpf is profiting, personally profiting, off charging Secret Service to use HIS facilities and equipment to protect him and his family. That is just pure evil and sooooo wrong, I can hardly believe this is happening in America. The government is going broke providing security for his adult, globe trotting children. Did they pay for Nixon's adult children's travel, I don't remember that happening. I also believe the SS weren't with the Bush twins in college, why do they have to go to Italy for a month with Tiffany? Drumpf golfs constantly, and I do mean constantly, so the government should not have to pay for golf carts when they are his personal property. Is that why he does this, to fuck over the populace? He didn't play this much golf during the 2 year campaign, why now? I just can't get over my total outrage at this fucked up asshole screwing the poor in America, cutting off their affordable healthcare, food stamps, free school lunches, all so he can golf all the time and not do his real job and his kids in the late 20's and 30's, total adults living on their own, can globetrot in 100% safety, putting all the risk on the SS.

As the West Wing articulated, the nightmare scenario is a president's child kidnapped for a political ransom.

Barbie and Jenna got a fairly light touch, and their parents required them to minimize the difficulty by attending the same school and living near each other. (I rarely say anything positive about the Bushes, but on this, they behaved well.)

According to federal law, the Secret Service is authorized to protect the sitting U.S. president and vice president (or the next-in-line for the presidency), their immediate families, and all former U.S. presidents and their spouses, as well as their children under age 16. While in office, neither the president nor the vice president can decline Secret Service protection, but their spouses and adult children can.

Almost all presidential families have accepted full Secret Service protection for as long as the law allows. Bill Clinton and George W. Bush even asked for extensions to cover their college-age children for a period after they left office. The few exceptions are Ronald Reagan's youngest son, Ron, who declined Secret Service protection during his father's second term, and Richard and Pat Nixon, who canceled their lifetime protection in 1985, to save the government money. They hired their own security detail.

article with sources: http://people.howstuffworks.com/why-does-the-secret-service-protect-a-presidents-adult-children.htm

Historically, adult children may decline protection -- Ron Reagan Jr did, as did the Nixons. The Bush sons did not decline protection during their father's VP and presidency, but they were considerate with it. The Trump children should be declining protection and paying for their own security, but grift runs deep in this family.

On the golf and the total inability to do the job -- no disagreements. But I can see why the USSS is paying for carts and toilets -- *they* don't want to put themselves in a position where they can be pressured. And don't put it past the Tangerine Palpatine to pull some "hey, I let you use my bathroom and gave you all these golf carts, so do NThing for me." They know he's transactional. They're not stupid. They don't want him to have those levers.

Un-fing-believable.

If they paid the resort for the carts is that not Trump profiting off his office? The secret service are required to be with him.

Mueller? Mueller?

Bill Maher mentioned President Carter - and others - tonight who followed precedent and divested themselves of business interests when they occupied the Oval Office. I happen to know about President Carter. He placed his business in a "blind trust," got no notifications while he was in office. When he returned to Georgia after his term was over, his business was in terrible shape - he said it was due to "mismanagement" and three years of drought and he was in serious debt. Only by selling the Carter warehouse was he able to avoid losing everything - including his home, which he had helped to build himself.

And Trump is making money every day while he occupies the office - at the expense of the American taxpayer.
