WATCH: GOP ex-lawmaker gives up on shockingly bad Trump and calls Obama a better dealmaker

Appearing on CNN Friday morning, the former Republican head of the House Intelligence Committee showed his exasperation with President Donald Trump’s continuing his attacks on fellow members of the GOP, saying he has all but given up on Trump as the face of the party.

Asked by CNN host John Berman about Trump’s deteriorating relationship with the party that he supposedly heads, former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) was clearly flummoxed by Trump undercutting of Republican lawmakers primarily through Twitter.

“You know, this is exasperating,” Rogers began. “If you want to try to do the things people want Donald Trump to do, when you talk about infrastructure improvement, when you talk tax reform, tax relief, when you talk about the big picture of getting free market ideas back into the health care debate, all of that seems to be lost on this president.”

“It’s shockingly bad,” he continued. “You cannot poke the people who are going to have to vote and write and debate and amend the bill going through to support your agenda. It makes no sense whatsoever.”

They could've prevented the conditions that led to Trump. They're trying to have it both ways now.

the train is leaving the station - without Trump!

He is isolated, a screaming radical in a sea of shocked citizens

It's been said Americans are a conservative lot, but even if you agree with
some of that (family, motherhood, apple pie), it is also true they are not
right wing radicals, and that is where Trump is attempting to govern from.

He is, as Sen. Flake said yesterday, "out there" - out on a limb.

The train wants to leave the station, but Trump still has great influence over the Trumptard electorate.

So while they've made statements criticizing him, they also seem frightened by that influence.

I think the GOP's red line with Sessions and Mueller speaks volumes. They want Trump gotten rid of by legal pressure so they don't risk getting all the blame.

Is this the government that you think the United States of America should have?

If so, why?

Me: Something must be done to remedy the situation plaguing our nation, sir. It is your duty. You swore an oath.

It does make sense if trump has been bought by putin and is actually doing his bidding and is destabilizing the west! And think of this, what if trump did not use the codes after putin launced an attack!!! Just a thought, not an accusation.

I am laughing because the Nazi in the WH is driving me insane.

Putin is easy to understand, he has stolen 300 billion dollars from his friends and enemies, is the richest human alive, and wants to spend that money.

He would only bomb us if he had no other choice, he wants to buy Louis Vuitton luggage to use while traveling around the world etc.

He wants to buy Audemars Piquet and Patek Philippe wristwatches and own houses everywhere. He wants to have young women he owns for sex everywhere.

If he bombs us, he cant have that and enjoy it too, I guess.

Welcome.

It was inevitable Trump was going to try to implode the Republican Party. Because he's fundamentally chaotic and suffers from a pathological condition leaving him unable to do anything but assault others for his own incompetence and kill off perceived enemies, competition and - which is everyone.

This will continue until he's stopped. The GOP should want him gone more than the democrats.
