Poll: Most Americans say Trump's behavior 'not what I expect from a president'

Source: Politico

By NEGASSI TESFAMICHAEL 08/24/2017 10:37 AM EDT

President Donald Trump promised to bring a fresh, outsider approach to the Oval Office, but about 7 in 10 voters nonetheless say the commander in chief’s behavior “is not what I expect from a president,” according to a poll released Thursday.

The George Washington University poll found that 71 percent of voters had that view of Trump’s comportment in office, while 27 percent disagreed that his behavior was not what they expected.

Sixty-eight percent of registered voters said Trump’s actions and rhetoric “could get us accidentally involved in an international conflict,” while 29 percent disagreed with that statement, the poll found.

The poll comes amid a rocky August for the president, who has faced criticism for his response after a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, left one counter-protester dead. The poll also found that 42 percent of voters approve of the job Trump has done so far in office, while 55 percent disapprove. Fifty-six percent of registered voters said Trump has not been an effective president, while 39 percent said he had been.

every day, and that's okay. There's fundamentally something wrong with a huge number of people in the US. What is causing this? Racism? Lack of emotional maturity? Do they really desire some kind of mad-max style of "civilization"?

I'm actually serious, what is causing this moral, mental instability in so many people???

They've been brainwashed for the last 30 years. Hillary called them "deplorables" but that's too nice of a word.
The rest of us call them "losers."

His behavior is exactly what I expected. What scares the shit out of me is when Mueller's investigation starts issuing indictments and combover starts longingly eyeing the football to start the biggest of all distractions.

Cheeto will never be allowed to start World War 3. That's General Kelly's real job. If Cheeto looks like he's getting ready to push the nuke button, Kelly will pull out his gun and shoot him.

So we don't have to worry about that little scenario.

Kelly can't watch him 24/7. The football, on the other hand, is always within his reach. Unless Kelly can reach a secret agreement with the officers holding the football (who do accompany the orange one 24/7) that they check with him first, Cheeto can do the nasty any time he wants.

The football arrangements were set up early in the Cold War. It allows the President to launch a nuclear strike quickly, without any red tape, in the event the U.S. is under attack. It only takes 20-30 minutes for an ICBM launched from the other side of the world to reach anywhere in the U.S.

I know of only one occasion where instant access was denied. Nixon was acting erratically before his resignation. Haig managed to have access to the football go through him first.

It's no secret carrot top is mentally unstable, quick to anger, and has the emotional intelligence of a 10 year old. Lets pray there are some new procedures regarding unfettered access to planetary annihilation. I really want to believe the adults have this under control, but I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary.

That's why they won't let it happen.

They don't work for Cheeto and they don't have to fluff him up like all the toadies do.

Sadly, I fear that many of those who agreed with "not what I expect" still approve of the guy. They find his "unpresidential" rantings appealing.

An article in the New Yorker last month provides insight into the Trump phenomenon that I think we need to understand. Trump is not "done" yet.

Excerpt below. I highly recommend reading the whole thing.

The New Yorker
How Trump Is Transforming Rural America
July 24, 2017 Issue
By Peter Hessler

http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/07/24/how-trump-is-transforming-rural-america

Before Trump took office, people I met in Grand Junction emphasized pragmatic reasons for supporting him. The economy was in trouble, and Trump was a businessman who knew how to make rational, profit-oriented decisions. Supporters almost always complained about some aspect of his character, but they also believed that these flaws were likely to help him succeed in Washington. “I’m not voting for him to be my pastor,” Kathy Rehberg, a local real-estate agent, said. “I’m voting for him to be President. If I have rats in my basement, I’m going to try to find the best rat killer out there. I don’t care if he’s ugly or if he’s sociable. All I care about is if he kills rats.”

After the turbulent first two months of the Administration, I met again with Kathy Rehberg and her husband, Ron. They were satisfied with Trump’s performance, and their complaints about his behavior were mild. “I think some of it is funny, how he doesn’t let people push him around,” Ron Rehberg said. Over time, such remarks became more common. “I hate to say it, but I wake up in the morning looking forward to what else is coming,” Ray Scott, a Republican state senator who had campaigned for Trump, told me in June. One lawyer said bluntly, “I get a kick in the ass out of him.” The calculus seemed to have shifted: Trump’s negative qualities, which once had been described as a means to an end, now had value of their own. The point wasn’t necessarily to get things done; it was to retaliate against the media and other enemies. This had always seemed fundamental to Trump’s appeal, but people had been less likely to express it so starkly before he entered office. “For those of us who believe that the media has been corrupt for a lot of years, it’s a way of poking at the jellyfish,” Karen Kulp told me in late April. “Just to make them mad.”

n Grand Junction, people wanted Trump to accomplish certain things with the pragmatism of a businessman, but they also wanted him to make them feel a certain way. The assumption has always been that, while emotional appeal might have mattered during the campaign, the practical impact of a Trump Presidency would prove more important. Liberals claimed that Trump would fail because his policies would hurt the people who had voted for him.

But the lack of legislative accomplishment seems only to make supporters take more satisfaction in Trump’s behavior. And thus far the President’s tone, rather than his policies, has had the greatest impact on Grand Junction.
This was evident even before the election, with the behavior of supporters at the candidate’s rally, the conflicts within the local Republican Party, and an increased distrust of anything having to do with government. Sheila Reiner, a Republican who serves as the county clerk, said that during the campaign she had dealt with many allegations of fraud following Trump’s claims that the election could be rigged. “People came in and said, ‘I want to see where you’re tearing up the ballots!’ ” Reiner told me. Reiner and her staff gave at least twenty impromptu tours of their office, in an attempt to convince voters that the Republican county clerk wasn’t trying to throw the election to Clinton.

Putin has no interest in starting World War 3, but it's certainly possible that Cheeto would try it.

I'm sure that Pootie is ready to cut ties with Trump any day now.
