Crowds Of People Turn Themselves In to Police For Tearing Down Confederate Statues (WATCH)

Source: LawNewz

Following the public toppling of a Confederate statue in Durham, North Carolina earlier this week, local police began a series of raids and arrests targeting anti-racists involved with the removal.

One of those arrested was Takiyah Thompson, a 22-year-old woman slapped with a litany of charge–including two felony counts of participating in a riot and inciting others to riot. Lauded as a hero by many activists and admirers across the country, Thompson’s targeting by law enforcement is not sitting well with those who cheered on and helped hasten the–statue’s undoing.

So, right now, anti-racists are staging a two-pronged action against the Durham County Sheriff’s Office. Nationally, there’s a call for people to clog up the phone lines and demand that Thompson’s charges be dropped.

Locally, however, the action is a bit more inspired–and arguably even inspiring. Scores of activists this morning marched into the Durham County Sheriff’s Office demanding to be arrested.

This is how the left protests. Words and deeds are bigger than guns and posturing. No one is crying to a camera while claiming to be brave.

This is the sort of action that makes a positive difference. Regular, normal, working people are repelled by protestors yelling and shouting at each other regardless of the righteousness of a cause.

But people, quietly, and orderly doing something like this, well that catches their attention and admiration.

You have every reason to be proud. I hope we learn from examples like this and don't give little donnie any more traction for his false equivalency BS.

Myself, well my allergies have acting up a bit since I read about this action so I've got to go take care of my eyes right now, just hate it when they start to tear up like that.

>> But, after today’s rush of protesters demanding to be arrested, he’s refusing to arrest any more. <<

!!

This is one of the best things I've ever read on the internets.
