President Donald Trumps massive real estate empire struck back at 65 former members of its Jupiter country club on Monday, insisting a federal judge erred in February when he ordered the company to repay the members $5.8 million for improperly keeping their deposits.
In an appeal filed with the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, Trumps attorneys quote liberally from a December 2012 letter the real estate mogul wrote members shortly after he bought the club on Donald Ross Road from Ritz-Carlton and renamed it Trump National Golf Club Jupiter. ... Claiming those who had announced their intentions to resign from the club should no longer be able to use it, the famously blunt Trump told them: Youre out.
....
Quoting Trumps son Eric, who ran the Jupiter club at the time and was placed at the helm of The Trump Organization after his fathers election, {Noted South Florida constitutional lawyer Bruce Rogow} said the members would get their deposits back in due time. ... You know, I want there to be no doubt in this courtroom, the refundability, Eric Trump testified during the trial. You know, we agreed to absolutely honor that refundability, and we pay out refundability all the time as they come due.
There is no ambiguity to that point.
But, members who filed the lawsuit argued, there was plenty of ambiguity after Trump purchased the financially troubled club for $5 million. One of the reasons Trump got the club in a gated community near Alternative A1A for such a bargain price was that he agreed to assume responsibility for an estimated $41 million in refundable deposits.

(3,059 posts)But he'll handle it like everything else...he won't pay, and tie things up for as long as he can. The good part here, is that he's fucking with other wealthy people, who can hire lawyers as good as, if not better, than his.

(23,182 posts)No person with integrity could ever be voluntarily involved in any shape form or fashion with someone who has no idea how to tell the truth because he's never done that in his whole life, who is a total and criminal fraud, has zero ethics or caring about anyone other than himself. That they chose to work for him tells you they are birds of a feather and so totally despicable.

(19,204 posts)but they can also be told to sit down, shut up, and pay up as well. Poor Donny! I'm guessing Donny Dim-Wit's finances aren't as gigantic as he boasts they are. Everyone knows he's a greedy, non-paying piece of shit when it comes to money HE owes people. He runs out on his debts more than anybody I've ever heard of, yet nothing ever seems to come of it. I hope his time is running out in that respect. I hope he has to pay back the 41 million PLUS all court costs. Asshole!

(33,643 posts)Opening an article with a set of manipulative words like this fairly SCREAMS "I am a Trump Dick-Sucker" when you're a member of the Press:
"President Donald Trumps massive real estate empire struck back at 65 former members "
You couldn't BE more obvious where your bias lies, asshole ...
When someone (usually a Liberal/Democrat) does something like this, unfriendly (which is most of it) Media will use totally different words in their headline ...
" (Dem) Lawyers Complain To Judge About ..."
" (Dem) Argues They Don't Owe Debt ..."
" (Dem) Takes Case to Court, Claiming Unfair ..."
Whereas when it's Big Strong Manly Republican ...
" (Repub) Fires Back ... "
" (Repub) Sets Record Straight In Courtroom With ..."
"Witnesses Step Forward to Back Claim of (Repub) ..."
etc.
The article that follows in every instance could be identical, but the GOP Propaganda Machine knows ... so few Americans can be arsed to read past a headline, so they know they can influence MILLIONS of dipshit Americans opinions with utterly simple propaganda techniques like the way this headline is worded.
Fact is ... we're pretty well and truly fucked ... because far too much of our citizenry ... is both stupid, and lazy. And there's way too many rich, greedy assholes who are more than willing and able to use their resources to manipulate this contingent.

(6,936 posts)Yeah...that ass should refund the money but this one is funny to watch somebody who has 30k to 200k to put down JUST to be able to walk in the door at a golf course duke it out with Butternut.
People like those in their gate communities have NO idea what day to day survival is like. Their pissed at Trump, how many voted for that ASS last Nov for their own personal gain in the way of FAT tax cuts they hoped to see in 2017?? My guess....MOST of them.
