Leak Investigations Triple Under Trump, Sessions Says.
Source: nyt
Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced on Friday that the Justice Department was now pursuing three times as many leak investigations as the previous administration, a significant devotion of law enforcement resources to hunt down the sources of unauthorized disclosures of information that have plagued the Trump administration.
Mr. Sessions vowed that the Justice Department would not hesitate to bring criminal charges against people who had leaked classified information. He also announced that the F.B.I. had created a new counterintelligence unit to manage these cases.
I strongly agree with the president and condemn in the strongest terms the staggering number of leaks, he said. The announcement by Mr. Sessions comes 10 days after President Trump publicly accused him of being very weak on pursuing these investigations in a post on Twitter.
The Sessions news conference came against the backdrop of repeated pressure by Mr. Trump, in public and in private, for the Justice Department and the F.B.I. to hunt down people inside the government who have been telling reporters what was happening behind closed doors.

(22,065 posts)Especially since the leaks are all revelations about the incompetence of the Trump administration. The only leak of important information came from Trump himself!
I find it remarkable that the Department of Justice considers the release of Trump's telephone conversations to be serious breeches of national security. They expose him as a phony.
What a crew.

Of course there are three times the leaks now, there's so much crap going on. Obama never had any of this because he was completely open with the press and with Congress. He only kept a few things under wraps for national security, like when they went after Bin Laden, but it was all out in the open as soon as it went down.
This administration has to stop with the all the secrets and then you don't have to worry about leaks - get it?!

Trump is too stupid to realize that he is creating his own leak system.

Sessions did not immediately give the identities of the four people charged, but said they had been charged with unlawfully disclosing classified information or concealing contacts with foreign intelligence officers.

So without an identity, there's no way of telling what leaks there were, and if they were anything at all to do with the media, or all with foreign intelligence officers (looking at you, Michael Flynn ...).

The truth is hard for Trump to fathom.
