US: Peru overtakes Colombia as top cocaine producer

Source: NBC

Peru has again become the top producer of pure cocaine in the world, outpacing Colombia, where output fell by an estimated 25 percent in a year, according to a White House report issued Monday.

Drug czar Gil Kerlikowske, director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, said Monday that potential cocaine production in Colombia was down by 72 percent since 2001. Colombia now ranks third, behind Bolivia in addition to Peru.

"Potential production of pure cocaine in Colombia is down to 195 metric tons (in 2011) from 700 metric tons in 2001, the lowest production potential level since 1994 and the first time since 1995 that Colombia is producing less cocaine than either Peru or Bolivia," Kerlikowske said in a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

-----------------
Kerlikowske said the decline in Colombian cocaine production is largely the result of Plan Colombia, a $7.5 billion U.S.-backed effort launched in 1999 to help the South American government crack down on a left-wing insurgency and drug organizations.

Jabberwocky is difficult to interpret. (That is its purpose.) But let me give it a try...

Loose translation from the jabberwocky:

Colombia has been subdued. Thousands of trade unionists, teachers, community activists, political leftists and other advocates of the poor have been murdered by the U.S. funded and trained Colombian military and its closely tied rightwing paramilitary death squads, and five million peasant farmers have been brutally displaced from their lands, in prep for U.S. "free trade for the rich," using the U.S. "war on drugs" as the lying goddamned excuse, and now the transglobal corporate monsters and war profiteers who rule over us want to subdue Peru, which just elected a leftist president and thus declared itself a candidate for independence from U.S. corporate monsters and war profiteers.

In jabberwockian, this reads: "Peru has again become the top producer of pure cocaine in the world, outpacing Colombia...".

The U.S. "war on drugs" is pure evil, here and there. In addressing the evils of the British oligarchy of his time, Lewis Carroll apparently felt that he needed to speak in tongues, in mocking, cartoonish adventures in the underworld--an upside down, backwards, inside out mirror image of the lies and murders that British imperial wealth was based upon.

Now we have the "curiouser" phenomena of imperial lies and murder creating "Wonderland" itself in the real world, authored in a place called "Washington DC," where the "Red Queens" of imperial policy "paint the white roses red" by imperial edict. Agents of these "Red Queens" are even now shoveling guns over the Mexican border, to stoke more murder and mayhem in that country, are shooting and killing innocent persons--including Indigenous tribespeople and peasant farmers--in Honduras, Colombia and other countries, and their Pentagon and their Pentagon private 'contractors' are building fortunes on the carnage they have wrought in Colombia and Honduras, all at U.S. taxpayer expense. They have also pulled off coup d'etats in Honduras and Paraguay, to install rightwing governments that welcome "Red Queen" military 'aid' and help subdue, murder, oppress and rob their own people of property, civil rights and democracy.

The U.S. "war on drugs" is "Alice in Wonderland" made manifest in the actual world. "Red queens," indeed. They are red with the blood of tens of thousands of Latin Americans. They are guilty of the wrongful imprisonment of tens of thousands of poor people, here and there, and the creation of the privatized "prison-industrial complex"--in parallel with the "military-industrial complex" which is imprisoning, oppressing, torturing, murdering and robbing multi-millions of people, including those of us who are paying for it, and, on top of all this physical and monetary carnage, have destroyed our own democracy and our ability to correct these immense wrongs.

"Alice in Wonderland" is a book--actual title, "Through the Looking Glass." We have gone through the "looking glass." We are IN it.
