Bomb threats lead to evacuation of 8 Walmarts, 2 in Kansas City area

Source: KCTV5 News

MISSOURI (KCTV) -

At least eight Walmarts across Missouri have been evacuated Friday evening after bomb threats.

Two of the stores are in the Kansas City area.

Two and a half hours after the threats were called in, police declared the scenes as safe.

The Gladstone, MO, Walmart at 72nd and North Prospect Avenue was evacuated after police got a call of a bomb threat about 6:30 p.m.

About the same time, the Raytown, MO, Walmart on Missouri Highway 350 near Raytown Road was evacuated for the same reason. Police said someone called in the bomb threat.

Most likely these threats are coming from a disgruntled, ex-Walmart employee. There have got to be scads of those!

No. Wal-Mart left ALEC. I imagine the bombs are gentle encouragements to come back to the fold. nt valerief Jul 2012 #1

my elementary school got a bomb threat ATLEAST once a month..
so ive become very jaded to these types of threats...

most people just explode a bomb, not call and give you a warning

hopefully this jadedness wont hurt me in a future experience

two kids called in a bomb threat. They got caught because they used a cell phone and the cops traced it back to them, they were sitting on the bus.

The most we had was 8 in one week. The school staff and police got quite efficient at searching the school, finally getting it down to half an hour. They found some over the years, so they weren't all fake calls, but most of the time, it was just some idiot's idea of a way to get out of class.

I never take them seriously anymore, either, because of that.

A friend's high school daughter claimed that a kid at her school , working at a Chinese restaurant, wanted the nigh off and had a friend call in a bomb threat. The owner supposedly took the call, hung up, and told the staff he would be out for the rest of the evening. I do not know if it was true, but I did not like going there after that although it had the best Chinese food around.

...and a decade later post 2000. After awhile, they just told us: "You can evacuate if you want to; but, you don't have to." Most of us just stayed at our desks and ignored the threats.

Cook up meth in the slower aisles. Perhaps someone felt they needed a little more room to work.
