CNN President Jim Walton to step down
By DYLAN BYERS | 7/27/12 11:38 AM EDT
Jim Walton, the president of CNN Worldwide, has announced that he will step down at the end of this year.
"After more than 30 years at this company and nearly 10 years as the leader of this great news organization, I have decided to leave my role at CNN on December 31, 2012," Walton, who has been with CNN since 1981, wrote in an email to staff today.
Turner Broadcasting CEO Phil Kent approved Walton's decision, and will lead the search for Jims successor.
The news comes amid severe ratings struggles at CNN, where, as employees recently told POLITICO, there has been an absence of leadership.
