ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Police in Anaheim, Calif., have restored order after violent protests over weekend police shootings caused injuries and two dozen arrests.
As many as 500 protesters and 250 police were involved in a fourth night of violence Tuesday. Seven hours of confrontations ended around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Anaheim mayor asks for state, federal help with police shooting investigations
¬snip¬
Now, after officer-involved shootings killed two men last weekend, it appears that investigation may happen. Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait said he wants an outside party to independently review the Saturday shooting. He is also asked for federal and state help.
Like many residents, I am very, very concerned with what occurred in our city on Saturday night, said Mayor Tait. I am asking the state Attorney Generals Office and the federal U.S. Attorneys Office for assistance with a full and independent investigation of the entire situation.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office has counted six officer-involved shootings in Anaheim this year. Five of the victims died.
The Orange County DAs office is investigating the weekend shootings.

(5,865 posts)it as I see it. L.A.P.D. on the other hand seems to have pretty level headed officers -- at least from my dealings, one on one. L.A. Sheriff's department seems to me a mixed bag.
