CNN Exclusive: Classified docs contradict Nunes surveillance claims, GOP and Dem sources say

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)After a review of the same intelligence reports brought to light by House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, both Republican and Democratic lawmakers and aides have so far found no evidence that Obama administration officials did anything unusual or illegal, multiple sources in both parties tell CNN.

Their private assessment contradicts President Donald Trump's allegations that former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice broke the law by requesting the "unmasking" of US individuals' identities. Trump had claimed the matter was a "massive story."

However, over the last week, several members and staff of the House and Senate intelligence committees have reviewed intelligence reports related to those requests at NSA headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland.
One congressional intelligence source described the requests made by Rice as "normal and appropriate" for officials who serve in that role to the president.

And another source said there's "absolutely" no smoking gun in the reports, urging the White House to declassify them to make clear there was nothing alarming in the documents.

...Trump opposed intervention over a much large chemical attack where over a thousand Syrians were gassed. However, Trump and company suddenly need to demonstrate that they are not completely on the Russian dole.

it is beginning to appear that Trump is more bombast than logic

and we are fortunate that they are not showing adeptness at appearing mainstream,
say the way GWB did.

But it's still early.

Susan Rice knows what she's talking about. It appears that Nunes is almost as clueless as Trump. #sad

Reads their foreign conversations and widely disseminates it within the Administration, the precedent is now established that this is completely legal and "normal and appropriate"? Not sure how comfortable I am with Democrats defending this procedure, gives Trump and company a green light to now use it to their advantage.

it should be phrased a bit more impolitely and confrontationally. "This administration is lying about Obama and Rice. This admin could 'prove' they were surveilled, by declassifying those reports. But they won't, because they're lying. dRump is lying, again, as usual. His flacks are lying again. His repug party buddies like Nunes are lying. If you're not all lying, prove it. I dare you. Stop telling us about those reports that 'prove' you're right, show us those reports. Liars."

It's silly to politely 'urge' radical fascists -- who are obvious open traitors selling us out to Putin -- to do the right thing, for the good of Democracy and the nation.

It comes off as wimpy and milquetoast-ish, because you're asking them to admit they're lying traitors, asking them politely.
