A liberal group organized to protect the Affordable Care Act is targeting seven vulnerable House Republicans with television ads as they begin a two-week stint in their home districts.
Save My Care, backed by labor and progressive groups, is spending more than $1 million on spots that highlight the members support for the GOP health-care plan that now stands in limbo in the House, according to a person familiar with the plans who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private strategy.
The seven Republicans targeted Reps. Mike Coffman (Colo.), Carlos Curbelo (Fla.), Darrell Issa (Calif.), Tom MacArthur (N.J.), Brian Mast (Fla.), Martha McSally (Ariz.) and David Valadao (Calif.) appear on lists of key districts targeted by Democrats in 2018. Coffman, Issa, MacArthur, Mast and McSally said they planned to support the American Health Care Act before it was pulled from the House floor last month; Curbelo and Valadao took no firm position.
One ad shared with The Washington Post, targeting Issa, highlights figures from a Congressional Budget Office report on an early version of the GOP bill, which predicted short-term premium increases and coverage losses reaching 24 million after 10 years. The ad also cites a massive age tax a Democratic talking point that references the GOP bills effect on those between 50 and 64. Because of a combination of higher premiums and lower federal subsidies, Americans in that cohort could face yearly increases reaching well into the thousands of dollars, the CBO found.

He held two town halls, only because he was under pressure. She did not get to ask questions. It was done by drawing, and was well-organized.
Both town halls were packed. The people were angry with him. I hope they follow through and get him out of office.

(2,574 posts)The most effective ads ag Repubs, the ones that start to eat into their support by double digits, are the ones that simply educate their voters on their voting record. Repugs Healthcate "replacement" ended NOT covering hospitalization, prescriptions, prenatal care, preventative care, drug rehab etc. It was essentially anti insurance for everybody.
In Maher's words, this is the Party of the Dicks and it is high time their voters knew every single hideous lock step vote they've made.
Kind of a great idea would be a "What your Republican Congressman voted for this month." running ad or column in the local paper.. It is shameful that local news does not cover the votes of Senators and Congressmen instead of incessant car crashes and house fires.. One of the reasons these Repigs get away with so much is that nobody ever tell theirs districts how they're voting., especially not the MSM.
I'd say another double digit down pushing ad on Republicans would be educating their voters that the Repugs just sold away their internet privacy and are planning to vote to end net neutrality...i.e to.make the internet less accessible by price gouging.
Besides Doug Applegate ag Issa, has any Democratic candidate informed voters their Republican candidate(Party) voted against the 911 1st Responders. That's the ad that took Issa from double digit shoo in in 2014 to less than 1% in 2016.
It's their voting records, just let people know. This ad smartly does it.
