Three D.C. Council members are calling on Mayor Vincent C. Gray to step down following a guilty plea by a third associate as part of the ongoing federal investigation of his 2010 mayoral campaign.
On Wednesday, David A. Catania (I-At Large) , Muriel Bowser (D-Ward ) and Mary M. Cheh (D-Ward 3) became the first elected officials to outright call for the mayors resignation.
The people you chose to surround yourself with engaged in a criminal conspiracy to undermine the election process in this city, which means as the leader of that campaign, you forfeit the fruits of that effort, Catania said.
A growing number of people are asking Gray to explain what he knew about a secret $653,000 effort to help him get elected. Public relations consultant Jeanne Clarke Harris admitted as part of a plea deal Tuesday that she helped disburse and conceal campaign funds spent by businessman Jeffrey E. Thompson, a prominent city contractor.

(50,254 posts)Marion Barry is not only an anti-Asian racist(why did it matter what the ethnicity of the business owners in Ward 8 was? It's not like there aren't sleazebags of ALL races), but he also opposed the same-sex marriage law in D.C. . You'd think a victim of prejudice would know enough to oppose ALL forms of prejudice, including anti-Asian bigotry and homophobia.
Thanks for the explanation.
