Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton warned her supporters on Tuesday against complacency as opinion polls show her holding a clear lead over Republican rival Donald Trump with exactly two weeks left until the Nov. 8 election.
Clinton received a further boost when Colin Powell, who served as Republican President George W. Bushs secretary of state, said he would vote for her, according to media reports.
Clinton told a rally in Florida, one of the battleground states where the election is likely to be decided, that Democrats cannot afford to slacken. I hope you will come out and vote because its going to be a close election. Pay no attention to the polls. Dont forget, dont get complacent, because weve got to turn people out, she said in Coconut Creek, standing in front of a large sign reading Vote Early.
An average of national polls on the RealClearPolitics website since mid-October gives Clinton a lead of more than five percentage points, as Trump fights off accusations that he groped women and faces heavy criticism for suggesting he might not accept the result of the election if he loses.

I'm afraid that there is a contingent of people who refuse to pick up the phone unless they KNOW the caller, but always cast a vote.
My precinct has quite a few retired military (especially officers) and spouses. I somehow don't think they are talking to pollsters.

I didn't get his name because I quickly switched the channel-- from habit.
Anyone else see that? It was earlier in the day on MSNBC

(15,187 posts)We live in Oregon so it's all vote-by-mail. Sat down with my husband and a cup of coffee this morning and filled in all those Dem bubbles. I would love it if we could get rid of our Representative - Greg Walden - but our nice blue community is in his deep red district. Maybe the Trumpers in Eastern Oregon will stay home. ...hope...hope...hope...
