Father Of War Hero Near Tears As He Pleads With Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell To ‘Repudiate’ Trump

Source: Huffington Post

Khizr Khan, who denounced Trump at the Democratic Convention, said “an ethical, moral stand has to be taken, regardless of the political costs.”

Khan, the father of Muslim-American war hero Army Capt. Humayun S.M. Khan, who was killed in action in Iraq, implored Republican leaders of the Senate and House to disown their presidential nominee, Donald Trump, once and for all.

Appearing in his living room with his wife on MSNBC, Khan stared unwaveringly into the camera with watery eyes and asked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.): “Isn’t this time to repudiate Trump?”

“If your candidate wins and he governs the way he has campaigned, my country, this country, will have constitutional crises [like] never before in the history of this country, and my conscience compels me under these very difficult circumstances,” Khan said. “But there is so much at stake, and I appeal to both of these leaders, this is the time. There comes a time in the history of a nation where an ethical, moral stand has to be taken regardless of the political costs. The only reason they’re not repudiating his behavior, his threat to our democracy, our decency, our foundation, is just because of political consequences.”

Mr. Kahn is as brave as his deceased son. A man obviously of great moral character,
and his story is our story, because he could be the parents or grandparents or ancestors
of any one of us, who understands America's unique moral role in the world.

It really is time for Trump to surrender. Every patriotic American must do all they can
to make sure our country does not fall into the sea of darkness.

Military commanders are not required to carry out illegal orders. The Constitution provides an orderly process for impeachment, Senate consideration, and removal or dismissal based on the vote of the Senate. Attempting to usurp that process would be another high crime in and of itself.

That Mr. Kahn and his spouse had won the TV two nights in a row. What he said last night is more important than what he said at the convention. Hoping last night's comments will go as viral as the previous ones did.

How can we get a petition started for Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan to rebuke Donald Trump? We need to keep this alive and in the news to create some pressure!

All those knuckle-draggers that support Dunce'ld - "repudiate" ain't one of the hundred words they have command of. "Dump Trump" they could understand - not that they would. "Take Out Trump" would be another phrase they could comprehend as well.

McConnell no one would care, but Ryan is popular and his running from Trump could be a move that would likely get backers with power and money and influence to bail, like rats from a sinking ship. As for voters, there are Trump voters who, like evangelicals, are sure they're the only righteous ones in Sodom, and martyrs for the cause if everyone else turns on Trump. They'll go down with the ship, singing "Nearer my god to thee..."

BUT...but most of these voters, while they may never vote for Hillary, don't want to be on a sinking ship, identified with the iceberg that ripped the hole in it. If he starts to look bad enough, if enough republicans reputiated him, they'll deny supporting him, and likely will stay home rather than vote.

However...I believe Ryan and McConnell will not reputiate Trump. I think they will go down with the ship. They've never been real leaders; they only act the part, which is easy to do when it' small smooth sailing and you're king of the world. But when everything goes horribly wrong, they freeze in place. I don't know if this means they're done for, but the more water the S.S. GOP takes on (and it seems to take on more every time Trump opens his mouth), the less likely they're going to be able to swim away from this.

...and not just a view of a vocal minority (as the NRA has proved, you only need a few people shouting their views loudly and frequently to make it seem like everyone feels this way rather than just those few people)...Assuming this, Ryan still has influential and monied backers or he wouldn't be in office at all. As well as republicans in office that will follow his lead. If he goes, they go, and that will hurt Trump no matter how evangelical his current followers--who still only get one vote each.

Look, I'm not trying to be all unicorns and rainbows here. We can't take anything for granted, and we have to pull no punches. But the only "bounce" I think Trump would get from Ryan pulling out would be for those already in his thrall to praise him louder, not for any new supporters to say "Thank heavens" and decide, at last, to vote for him. Ryan's support is NOT keeping anyone from voting for Trump. Ryan leaving, however, could lose Trump support that would keep votes if not gain them.

They do appear to believe Ryan and McConnell are the President's lapdogs because Congress hasn't voted him out of office. They do not believe in science or math. They are trying to cantorize Ryan.
