The left-leaning New York Daily News is not pulling punches on its take on the newest Roger Ailes developments out of Fox News.
The longtime Chairman and CEO of the conservative cable net is officially out, following allegations that have emerged of sexual harassment by several of his former female employees. In his place, global media giant Rupert Murdoch is acting CEO, though Ailes is still advising despite his resignation that was handed in Thursday.
The sarcastic Daily News which never hesitates to use its editorial voice to lambast conservatism ran with the headlines SLEAZY LIKE A FOX, complete with imagery of Roger Ailes smooching Murdoch.

Murdoch is "running" the place now (for continuity, he says) and Ailes is supposed to remain available for consultation.
What Murdoch does not know about tv is a lot. Perhaps they intend to let Ailes run it long-distance until the elections are over.

(65,616 posts)Good friends like that, watch Ailes stick around behind the scenes as a consultant like you said. Maybe the 20 was an advance for his new job away from the spotlight.

(22,911 posts)Editorially, the News was originally somewhat more liberal than its sister, the Chicago Tribune. However, it gradually drifted rightward as Patterson became more conservative, and by the time of his death in 1947 its editorial line was staunchly supportive of the Republican Party. This changed after the Watergate scandal in the 1970s, with the Tribune papers turning independent and increasingly liberal. Across the same time frame, its rival newspaper, the New York Post, also switched its editorial line from Democrat- to Republican-leaning. The News kept its liberal point-of-view after seceding from the Tribune syndicate, and to this day has become nationally known for advocating immigration reform and gun control.
