The issue of racism and the treatment of minorities at the hands of the justice system have been major themes of the Democratic campaign. The women appearing with Clinton — who have lost children in brushes with police or to violence — were due to make the case that the former secretary of state would take on the gun lobby, a campaign official told NBC News.

Obama made his comment about 'clinging to guns and religion' and Clinton feinted to the right, for gun owners.

Remember?

She'll say any damn thing after reading the polls.
(Edit: I'll find a better quality video that doesn't cut off after two sentences.)
From Wiki:

"Campaigning in the week of April 14, 2008, included a tough debate between Obama and Clinton, who pounded her rival for his recent remark that decades of economic decline had left some rural voters "bitter" and clinging to religion and guns.

On April 22, she won the Pennsylvania primary by 9.2 percentage points, keeping her campaign alive and bringing in a much-needed $4.3 million in new funds over the next 24 hours, although the campaign claimed the figure was $10 million.[319][352] Weekly churchgoers made up almost 36 percent of the electorate, who went to Clinton by a 56–44 margin. More than a third were gun owners, and they preferred Clinton by an almost-identical margin—60 percent to 40 percent, exit polls found out. The victory showed she had the better shot at winning on November 4, 2008, than he, she stated. A total of 158 delegates to the convention were at stake.[353]"

"Clinton, the women all agreed, had been the only candidate to reach out to them. That fact was stressed again and again in the more than an hour they spent here, speaking to a small group of mostly black voters.

Geneva Reed-Veal — the mother of Sandra Bland, the Illinois woman found hanging in a Texas jail cell last year — described Clinton as the kind of person you can "take your shoes off and have a conversation with."

"You can not fake passion," Reed-Veal said. "You cannot fake concern."

self-serving politicians like Hillary Clinton, DWS, the Super Delegates, (and shame on Dolores Huerta) who use elections and friendships solely to further their own careers make me want to agree with those statements. I think as a human being you should first adhere to your principles rather than the organization or name of a party. If Hillary wins the nomination, I will not support her - in Maryland she'll win anyway. My vote will go to Jill Stein.

That said, I discovered a co-sponsorship for an earlier version of the End Racial Profiling Act that Hillary also endorsed. (Sanders endorsed the one before the senate right now)

I didn't think she had, she did, so they are on equal footing for legislation that could have helped prevent or provide for meaningful justice over the death of Eric Garner.

So, now that I know Hillary did support that bill, I will dial back my dismissal of her contribution. Mea culpa.

While Hillary Clinton Has An F- With The NRA Bernie Sanders Has Time & Time Again Had The Chance To Vote For Bills That The NRA Was Against, Yet He Failed To Do So.

Now That He's Running For President He Has Reversed His Position On This Issue Time & Time Again.

That's The Reason Bernie Sanders Has A D+ Rating With The NRA While Hillary Clinton Has An F-, For Those That Remember The Grading Scale In School An F- Is Failing, While A D+ Is Passing.

So To Say That Someone Who Has Had 30 Years & Multiple Opportunities To Stand Up To The NRA, Not Only Has He Failed To Do That, Bernie Sanders Has Gained Their Support With A Passing Grade Of A D+.

Granted, a D minus in elementary school will let a student slip by to the next grade (though as a former school teacher, I know that a grade of D- is usually a gift for someone who tried really hard, but couldn't quite pass). In college, a D average is failing.

This is the rating description given by the NRA:

D: An anti-gun candidate who usually supports restrictive gun control legislation and opposes pro-gun reforms. Regardless of public statements, can usually be counted on to vote wrong on key issues.

Does this sound like Bernie is soft on gun control?

Clinton's advantage among blacks will have deep implications beyond Saturday's South Carolina vote with Super Tuesday looming on March 1.

Sybrina Fulton is the mother of Trayvon Martin, who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in Florida on Feb. 26, 2012. Geneva Reed-Veal is the mother of Sandra Bland, who was found dead in a Texas jail cell on July 13, 2015.
