Prosecutors handling the second-degree murder case against George Zimmerman filed a motion late Wednesday asking the judge to seal parts of the evidence.
Among the items Duval County Assistant State Attorney Bernardo de la Rionda wants kept from the public: the results of a test police conducted on Zimmerman the day after he killed Trayvon Martin. The results have already been provided to the court under seal, de la Rionda said.
Any testing performed and findings in this case have not gained such reliability and scientific recognition as to warrant its admissibility, he wrote.
De la Rionda did not specify what the test was, but in an interview last week Zimmermans father told The Miami Herald that his son had passed a voice stress test.

(16,350 posts)Are we looking at a pending acquittal here? Put the local PD in jail then. They are guilty too.

(1,076 posts)to the media. If they don't seal evidence it will be spread all over the internet before the trial starts. What I can't understand is why they don't have a gag order on the witnesses to keep them from talking to the media.

(136 posts)he'll be looking over his shoulder the rest of his pathetic life. Hopefully, the Feds will get him on committing a lethal hate crime, and execute him for that.....all despite the antics of the Floor-reee-duh "justice system."

(1,076 posts)think that what Zimmerman did warrants execution?

(23,382 posts)But I'm not a fan of the death penalty. For anything.
And Zimmerman's not charged with 1st degree murder, "just" second degree. I don't know if that warrants a death penalty in Florida.

(12,008 posts)Drawn and quartered, perhaps? After that, they can take some slaves and turn them into eunuchs to guard their harem.
If it's not clear enough: the death penalty has gone the way of slavery, castration, and female servitude.

(136 posts)and then he should face whatever punishment the Feds have in mind for him....death or life in prison. That's the way the "System" currently operates, and I've no problem with it. No problem at all.

(12,072 posts)Racial hatred will be a bit difficult to prove also. Zman had a black business partner, helped a black man against the police, and called the police to report a lost black child.

(12,008 posts)Shit, if it's ok with "the system", it must be ok. Wasn't Jim Crow awesome? I mean, it was legal, so I can't see what problem you could have with it. Same with child labor, slavery, etc.

(120 posts)The media, particularly the Orlando Sentinel, has been blatantly irresponsible in the reporting on this case. False rumors are reported as fact. "Reporters" are allowed to publish feckless speculation. Suspect polls are conducted, predictably arriving at inflammatory and divisive results. All of this is aimed at tainting any possible jury pool.
More control must be exercised over the case material. But, as usual, the move comes after the horse has already galloped out of the barn.

If it were not for the outcry from Trayvon's parents, this case would be closed and Zimmerman would be walking around toting his gun probably looking for another child to eff with.

(12,072 posts)Zman is claiming self-defense. In order to do that you have to first confess that you did the killing but claim that it should be excused as it was justified.

(60,567 posts)He'll just confess again, and claim that he defended himself against an unprovoked attack.
I believe that's what the defense is going to come down to, and if he can convince a jury (or the judge at pretrial) that the shooting was a justifiable reaction to getting his head beaten, he'll walk.
