Mysterious $1 Million Donor Helps Bush ‘Super PAC’ Meet Fund-Raising Goal
Source: New York Times
Millions of dollars landed in the accounts of a super PAC backing Jeb Bush on the final few days of June, according to campaign reports released Friday by the Federal Election Commission, a last-minute deluge that allowed the group to beat its goal of raising $100 million in the first half of the year.
But one of the biggest checks came from a donor whose identify is a mystery: a limited liability company named Jasper Reserves, formed two years ago.
The firm was among the most generous donors to the Super PAC, Right to Rise, writing a $1 million check to the organization on June 29, according to the disclosures.
More than 30 individuals or corporations have given $1 million or more, based on the super PACs that have filed so far.
But not much else could be ascertained about Jasper, such as the person or persons behind it, or what business and ideological interests they may have.

(90,061 posts)Right to Rise, the mammoth super PAC backing Jeb Bush's presidential bid, did not reach its widely expected haul of $100 million until the final hours of the six-month fundraising period.
Finance reports filed Friday with the Federal Election Commission showed that the super PAC -- while raking in huge checks from hundreds of longtime Bush loyalists since its launch in early January -- had raised $99,874,780.38 by June 29, with one day left before books closed on the quarter. That put it just shy of the much-vaunted $100 million goal that many Bush supporters predicted it would easily exceed.
On June 30, Right to Rise collected an additional $3.5 million in donations from 82 contributors, including $1 million from Shahla Ansary, the wife of former Iranian diplomat Hushang Ansary, who had already given $1 million in February.
In all, two dozen individuals and entities gave a least $1 million to the pro-Bush super PAC, helping it raise a record $103 million. Bush spent much of the year headlining high-dollar events for the group, while maintaining that he had not yet decided whether to run.

(15,460 posts)The money that goes into these funds gets spent on companies (media/advertising/policons) that are part of the "family". How better to launder income/gains and treat them as legitimate expenses?
Illicit drug, booze running, prostitution - they all work but are frowned upon. Welcome to the new mafia.
In the end the crap just end up back in the pockets of the pissers. Bypass IRS, bypass accountability, bypass public scrutiny (as if the pubics care.)

(90,061 posts)You know the media loves all that money too, and that has lots to do with their tolerance for all the bullshit and lies our politics is polluted with.
