Spelman College ends Bill Cosby professorship in response to scandal

Source: New York Daily News / AP

A historically black Atlanta-based college is discontinuing its endowed professorship with Bill Cosby after recent details emerged of his testimony in a sexual-assault lawsuit.

Spelman told The Associated Press in a statement Friday that the college has parted ways with the 78-year-old actor and comedian.

A deposition released this month shows the married father of five acknowledged he got sedatives to give to women before sex.

The program was established in the name of Cosby and his wife, Camille, to bring positive attention and scholars to the campus. The Cosbys donated $20 million to the college in 1988.

AP is merely accurately reporting what is in the transcript.

Now you and I can of course read between the lines and know what he's really guilty of, but as far as what can be accurately and legally stated by a reporter as an undisputable fact, they're doing their job correctly.

The sex assault allegations are mentioned numerous times in the article and aren't sugarcoated.

but didn't anyone point that out to him? That he is a serial rapist? To me that would be the obvious followup question to a man admitting he drugged women "for sex"

be rape.

But consider this...

Bill: I'm a rich celebrity, wanna have sex?

Her: Probably not - I've heard from my friends that you are not very good.

Bill: Got that covered, take this and you can sleep through it.

Her: Well, if I don't have to remember it, then OK.

In those circumstances, and presuming she was at least 18, consent would have been freely given while in a clear mental state.

Other than that, however, rape,

Which is what they were doing with this money. It'll be too hard to differentiate between real victims and the con-artists that will crop up if you start offering a financial payout.

if you can't discuss something rationally, you can always post a couple cool emojis and say something totally unfounded.

Bill Cosby is a rapist dick that needs to be in jail. But Spellman College doesn't have the mandate or the legal obligation to dispense compensation to Cosby's victims.
