Cruz: McConnell lied on Ex-IM bank, cannot be trusted

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican Sen. Ted Cruz has accused Mitch McConnell, the Senate Majority leader and his GOP leader, of lying.

The presidential candidate and Texas lawmaker lobbed the extraordinary accusation in a speech on the Senate floor Friday.

Cruz said McConnell lied about how he would handle a vote to renew a federal lending institution. The tea party favorite said what McConnell told every Republican senator and the media weeks ago was a simple lie.

A spokesman said McConnell would have no response. The majority leader was not on the Senate floor when Cruz issued his blistering attack.
