Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and the Communications Workers of America (CWA) union continue to be at odds over how to structure pension benefits for a new labor contract. The current contract expires on Aug. 1.
In a new update post on the union negotiations, the CWA said that Verizon's pension proposals are not acceptable.
"After listening to 5 minutes worth of their retrogressive and insulting pension presentation/proposal, the Union made it clear to the Company that we are looking for improvements to the Pension Plans not diminishments to our retirement security," CWA said in a post.
CWA added that Verizon does not respect the members of the union and they should not accept the company's concessions.

(20,453 posts)Verizon can't care about it's customers, either, so that makes two major entities who should unite!

(11,529 posts)Greedy bastards. And of course the way this will play out in the media is that the company is struggling for survival yet those greedy employees don't care.

(5,927 posts)CREDO is very worthwhile. I had service with them for a while but I had some issues with signal loss in certain areas in the northern Detroit suburbs. I don't go out that way very much since my Mom moved. I told my next-door neighbor about CREDO and he switched over and is very happy.
Thanks for the reminder, I love the ability to fire greedy corporate octopusses. (Octopi?)

(1,730 posts)more effective today than they were then. A non-union competitor paid their employees more than what we were being paid at the time, and offered better benefits. I remember the competitor's medical plan rocked, ours was mediocre with higher deductibles. Made us wonder what CWA members were actually getting in return for our membership dues.
The competitor then has evolved into Sprint, and the company I worked for has evolved into CenturyLink. They both suck.
