[AL Rep] Mo Brooks bill would force feds to publish crime data on illegal immigrants

Arguing that the federal government doesn't have adequate crime data on illegal immigrants, U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Huntsville, introduced a bill Wednesday that would force state and local authorities to provide the immigration status of a suspect on arrest reports and compel the FBI to include data on crimes committed by illegal immigrants in its annual crime report.
"While we have daily access to the endless stream of anecdotal gruesome news reports of yet another illegal alien taking yet another American citizen's life, we need big picture data to rebut the liberal left's mantra that illegal aliens are as clean, innocent, and pure as freshly fallen snow," Brooks said on the House floor.
The congressman said his bill, the Arrest Statistics Reporting Act, is needed because the federal government doesn't publicly report state and local illegal immigrant crime data, "thus undermining our understanding of how bad the illegal alien crime problem is and what we must do to address it."
Brooks said federal sentencing data for illegal immigrants shows that "illegal aliens are far more likely to commit violent and dangerous crimes than the average American or lawful immigrant." Citing U.S Sentencing Commission Data, the congressman said undocumented immigrants committed 74 percent of federal drug possession crimes, 20 percent of kidnapping and hostage taking cases, 17 percent of drug trafficking cases and 12 percent each of money laundering and murder cases.
