US should hang Edward Snowden, says former spy panel senator
Source: The Hill
We need to hang him on the courthouse square as soon was we get our hands on him, retired Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) who served as vice chairman of the powerful intelligence panel before stepping down from Congress last year said during an appearance at the University of Georgia this month.
I hope none of you have any sympathy for him, he told students at the Terry College of Business.
The comments reflect the animosity that many national security hawks on Capitol Hill and within the government feel for Snowden, who has sought refuge in Russia for the last two years to avoid U.S. espionage charges.

It appears that Chambliss, like some of Snowden's defenders, thinks the legal process should be dispensed with...

(19,537 posts)if he wants to live in a police state that spies on its own people and doesn't let someone like Snowden who's NOT A FUCKIN' SPY as he isn't giving this information for anyone but us to be able to fix this police state that we are heading towards that Chamblis wants to probably be in part of and throw away democracy, which it is obvious that he hates and therefore hates the America that our founders set up here, that reject his type of authoritarism love!

(5,082 posts)He tampered with electronic voting machines in 2002. And shouldn't he be the one made an example out of for violating the constitution and his oath to uphold it? The guy who weaseled out of service in Vietnam? This piece of crap is a disgrace to America.

There are loads of articles and I'll just give 2 cites with major cases in them.
We need to get out in front on this, 'cause you know those election thieves are doing it as we sleep.
It may not even matter who runs if they control the machines and the counting.

(5,082 posts)In 1996 he was the first republican elected senator in Nebraska in over 40 years. And he won with the biggest margin in history...70%. He also just happened to be president of ES&S who made the voting machines. This got the attention of Bush Sr and other republicans. In 2000 and 2002 a major fraud was committed. Too bad Mike McDonnell the IT specialist who ran campaigns for Rove died in a plane crash before testifying.

(24,737 posts)this is what I think, you were in office during the torture of prisoners under the Bushie administration----------------correct.
In fact somewhere along the "meetings' you held has vice-chairman of the "intelligence committee" you had to know something was afoot when some human being was /were having water forced down his or there throats, while at a inclined position.
And did you in some nefarious ways give or get money to the two phys-ops individuals in some black program to devise these tactics
Because................
I think you should be brought up on charges for condoning the acts of a criminal enterprise (Bush and crew) which your party and its leaders condoned, you know what they call that at the Hague, there Saxby--------------war crimes.
And they (The Hague) really don't like individuals that were apart of the tactics
How much moola did you get to spew your venom at the college------------- I would have asked admission for all of money back.
If I would have been there with a T-shirt saying that you are a national disgrace and what your ilk did to Max Cleland

(6,891 posts)I've had the same thought about warmonger and chickenhawk former Sen. Saxby Chambiss, who received at least as many deferments during Vietnam as Max Cleland had wounds from serving in it.

(23,272 posts)and people wonder why there are those of us who understand why Snowden ran as far as he could.
I believe there are more than a few here on DU and in RL who don't give a shit about due process.
At least Obama wants to have a sham trial and shove him into life in prison by charging him under the Espionage Act.
So there's that.

(2,605 posts)"An especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors." describes Edward Snowden perfectly.
The Congressional Gold Medal would be a good choice as well as it is awarded to persons "who have performed an achievement that has an impact on American history and culture that is likely to be recognized as a major achievement in the recipient's field long after the achievement."
Go Fuck Yourself , chambliss, cheney style.

(6,419 posts)Snowden wants to be seen as a martyr. Chambliss plays the game. It's a sick game. Now Snowden's back in the news for a few minutes, which makes his supporters happy.
Someday Snowden will be on a reality TV $how. I predict.

(23,272 posts)Senator who was the Vice Chair on the Senate Intelligence Committee wants him hung BEFORE due process - hung as soon as "we" get "our" hands on him.
And there are DUers who STILL think he'd get a fair trial here...if only he'd come back.
