Springfield The National Labor Relations Board recently decided there is no bargaining impasse between Community Mercy Health Partners and its service workers, and ordered the sides back to the table.
Negotiations are set to resume next week.
Mercy Health officials are in negotiations with members of the Service Employees International Union District 1199, which represents close to 500 service and support workers at the Mercy McAuley Center in Urbana and the Springfield Regional Medical Center. That mostly includes workers who provide housekeeping, dietary, laundry and other similar services, said Anthony Caldwell, a spokesman for the union.
Both sides are expected to resume negotiations Thursday and Friday of next week. The sides have been negotiating since December last year, and workers have been without a contract since Feb. 1 this year. Employees have continued to work in the meantime.
