Serena Williams wins Wimbledon, her third major title in 2015

Source: News-Press.com

Twelve years after doing it the first time around, Serena Williams has made history again by winning four consecutive Grand Slam titles – better known as the "Serena Slam."

It's another mark in the history books for the player who many already consider the greatest woman to have ever played the game.

Williams, 33, overcame a staid opponent in Garbiñe Muguruza, a 21-year-old from Spain, Saturday in the Wimbledon women's final, winning 6-4, 6-4.

It's a remarkable feat for Williams, the world No. 1, marking her 21st Grand Slam title and sixth at Wimbledon. She sits just one major trophy behind Steffi Graf's Open era record of 22.

1) if it's not proven, then yes it's a nasty rumor. Anyone who brings it up in a celebratory thread, without evidence, is spreading nasty rumors.

2) she's an athlete. Of course it's possible. But unless you have proof, refer to #1.

that we live in.

PED use is rampant. The baseball record books have been totally rewritten. Football players are enormous. Cycling had a near 100 percent usage rate at one point. And the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight took years to put together, in part because of disputes over PED testing requirements.

Accusations of doping are by no means uncommon and often not unfounded. Hearing these accusations is just part of being a sports fan at this point in history. I wish it could be different and I completely agree that it is very unfair to a great many athletes, including Serena.

I think Serena Williams is one of the top 5 women tennis players of all time, along with Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert and Margaret Court Smith. Wondering what would have happened if Monica Seles hadn't gotten stabbed is a great "what if" in sports history.

Ref. Adam Sandler. Bluntly, if Serena was the same height and weight as Maria, she'd get more endorsement money IMO. Also some of the outbursts and right wing political views she's expoused have probably cost her ancillary cash.

But I long for the days where there was real competition and rivalry in the women's tour. There is no fun in seeing 1 person dominating the field.

This was not a good match for her. But she showed a great heart in coming back to win.

17-time GS winner Roger Federer (2) vs. 8-time GS winner Jokovic (1) ... the two have met 39 times before w/Federer leading overall 20-19. They're 6-6 in Grand Slam tournaments. I believe Federer has only lost 1 SET the entire tourney and just destroyed #3 Andy Murray in the Semifinal in straight sets. The dude is playing out of his mind still even at 34 years young.

This is the kind-of matchup you only get to see so many times in one's life ... two of the best to ever play.
