Miami-Dade Adopts $100 Fine for Pot Possession

Source: Miami Herald

Mami-Dade commissioners voted Tuesday to let police treat marijuana possession the same way they do littering and loitering — by issuing a civil citation with a $100 fine that keeps the offense out of the criminal system.

“We have better things to do with our police resources,” said Commissioner Sally Heyman, sponsor of the ordinance. “For goodness’ sakes, we don't have to destroy the lives of so many.”

The times they are a changing!
Even down here in Floriduh.

Rick "I plead the Fifth" Scott will fight this, as if they legalized heroin,
and we all know, his big donor pharmaceutical folks already own that market-legally.

Rick "I plead the fifth" Scott
or
Billion-dollar Medicare fraudster Rick Scott

Of course, there's always Skeletor, but that was given to TARPy Hank Paulson first, I think.

I really hope more people adopt this line of thinking. Laws against pot are so idiotic. It should be treated like alcohol.

There used to be a few. Now we get a medical marijuana bill that only covers a couple of horrid diseases, and no flowers, only oil or pills.

It's time to move to Colorado.

Agree---treat it like alcohol. Personally, I like pot better and don't drink at all.

No potential for disparate and unequal treatment there.

The Legend of Rick Scott

Come and listen to a story about a man named Scott
Says he grew up poor, but today he's surely not,
He was sitting in Texas in the CEO's chair
When indictments starting dropping and he got a little scared,

Medicare Fraud Indictments, biggest case in American history.

Well the first thing you know Rick's sneaking out the door,
Lawyers recommend he should move away for sure,
They Said "Florida is the place you ought to be"
So he loaded up his millions and he moved to Napoli, Naples, Florida, that is.

Rich white folks. swimming pools, & government-sanctioned opinions!

Well now its time to say good by to Rick and all his kin.
They'd like to thank Floridians who blindly took them in,
But Charlie Crist is here you see to bring back our integrity,
So take your dirty money and thank God for double jeopardy.
Don't come back now, hear?
