Anti-Tank Grenades Found At Ariz. Neo-Nazi Massacre Site
Source: Talking Points Memo
Six anti-tank grenades designed to be fired from a launcher were discovered on Wednesday at the scene of a horrific Arizona mass murder-suicide, which authorities said was carried out by well known white supremacist JT Ready.
The discovery helped expand the probe of the killings to the federal level and has led investigators with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to begin looking into how Ready was able to obtain the illegal explosives, according to ATF special agent Tom Mangan.
Mangan described the bombs as 40mm armor-piercing projectile grenades, the same type used by the U.S. military in combat. The grenades are generally fired from some sort of launcher, but Mangan said no such weapon was found at the scene.
Ready was a longtime neo-Nazi and border vigilante who authorities said walked into a house in a suburb east of Phoenix on Wednesday and killed four people, including his girlfriend and a 15-month-old baby, before turning the gun on himself.

Pretty good bet this pinhead lacked any permit or background check that would have allowed him to possess a destructive device. I say Destructive Device, because these are not classified as firearms protected under the 2nd amendment. Explosives are regulated differently, and the courts have not yet found any 'right' to possess them under the 2nd amendment.
This is not an NRA/ish type issue.

(1,589 posts)I dont think any part of this is. Havent there always been nutjobs that have black market munitions squirreled away? I think so. I mean I basically assume if you have that FFL that allows you to own/sell automatic weapons, that you also have some secret illegal stash of "the good stuff" that you are saving for the race wars/commies/socialists/whatever

(398 posts)I wonder why he chose Arizona, with its extensive and wide ranging hispanic and native american influence, as well as it's border with Mexico. Why didn't he start his base in Minnesota or Michigan. I hear the Upper Peninsula is rather rife with his sort, is that correct?

Was this guy a criminal in the first place?
Or did he decide to become a criminal because he had a gun?
Would he have killed this many people at once if he hadn't had a gun?

(39,171 posts)owning those grenades was against the law - they are explosive devices and are very tightly regulated.
If he was willing to ignore that law, why is it hard to believe he would ignore any gun law?
