"He [Breitbart] said he would like to find a way for me to get paid to publish the videos," testified O'Keefe.
O'Keefe gave details about the payout. He testified that before the San Diego undercover taping, Breitbart first saw undercover ACORN videos from the East Coast and wanted to see more.
"Now we have evidence for the first time, Breitbart agreed in advance to participate in the violation of California law," said Gene Iredale, Vera's attorney.
O'Keefe said he was eventually paid $65,000 by Breitbart to blog about the video.

(27,461 posts)I didn't realize this case was going forward, so glad to hear it.
Vera is the ACORN worker that actually called the cops on O'Keefe's pimp. He was just humoring him while he was in the office. There's video of O'Keefe and Giles wondering why Vera was writing down their license plate numbers out in the parking lot.

(4,847 posts)is our congress democrats were willing to cave and screw ACORN on such bogus charges. What it shows is that the rightwing wackos can pull any stunt, lie and get what they want. Which reminds me, I believe one of turdblossom's first "stunts" was for a southern governor's election. Apparently, he doctored a photo with the democrat and a black woman and making the innuendo that he was having an affair. With a complicit paper, they ran the false photo-even when it was proved false, the democratic candidate lost.
You got some people in this country who actually believe that the media doesn't lie. Really, today's media, especially faux, doesn't lie.

(28,094 posts)though now the coroner has died - supposedly from aresnic poisoning. (I could not find a reliable link to that so I won't post one here apparently Breitbart's fans are all suspicious about that).

(12,977 posts)It could takes months to get a final determination on the cause of death for Los Angeles County coroner's official Michael Cormier, who officials said appears to have died from poisoning.
Law enforcement sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing, said that finding the presence of poison does not necessarily mean the death was a homicide because the substance could have accidentally entered his system. According to sources, arsenic was one poison being examined as a potential cause but stressed that no final determination has been made.
Ed Winter, deputy chief coroner, said that an autopsy had been performed but that a determination of the cause of death has been deferred pending further tests.
"At this point we haven't ruled out foul play," added Lt. Alan Hamilton of the Los Angeles Police Department.

(50,254 posts)Do we know for sure that the "Acorn staffers" seen talking about prostitution in the tapes actually WERE ACORN staffers?
If Breitbart was going to recruit everybody else...wouldn't it have been fairly easy for him to recruit ringers for those "roles"?

(37,166 posts)...and how many of them are dedicated enough to stay under cover there long enough to have been in the positions they were in? They'd have had to spend years actually doing ACORN's work. Payoff horizon is too long for them.
Investigations into the tapes' claims have found heavy and misleading editing, but as far as I know no collusion with the any of the ACORN people seen on the tapes.
