From the LA Times:

...a dramatic confrontation caught on video, Los Angeles police shot and killed a homeless man in the heart of downtown's bustling skid row Sunday...
Witnesses at the scene identified the victim by his street name, “Africa”, and gave conflicting accounts of what they saw...

An area resident, who identified himself as Booker T. Washington, said police had come by repeatedly to ask Africa to take down his tent. People are allowed to sleep on the streets from 9 p.m to 6 a.m., but they are supposed to remove their tents in the daytime, under a court agreement.

“This man got shot over a tent,” Washington said.

When I had some financial problems a few years ago, I discovered first hand that America is a 'kick 'em while they're down' kind of place. Now, it seems to have become a 'shoot 'em while they're down' place. This video blew me away because they had the homeless guy pinned down and immobile, and all of a sudden, one of the cops, who still was pointing his gun at the prone guy, let off at least two shots point blank.

Geez.

"doing their jobs" with an "us vs. THEM" mentality?!?!! Cops now look like they belong in the military. WTF!?!

That poor man! I hope these "cops" get charged with murder. I am so tired of hearing about these murderous crimes committed by the very people empowered to "serve and protect"!!!

they dont. people are desperate out there, being harrassed by law enforcement and politicians with grand ambitions.
our local mayor swearingen supposedly runs a church, or her husband does.
nobody thinks.
When Housing First gets its skirts blown up as the hot ticket, years after it's utility was recognized, these politicians and
their contributors work together to spend 11 million dollars constructing single tenant housing for less than 70 tenants.
these are prisons by another name, but when you have uglier options they look really good to the few that make the cut.
what doesnt get acknowledged is the real estate gaming, and profitable turns things take for these contributors.
because we do not have a free press, investigative reporting or anyone selfless enough to speak the truth about the corruption
run rampant.
I cannot tell you how many tents I have handed out over the last 8 years or so.
cops come through and trash them, rip them open so they cant be used with any sense of security or privacy.
I am tired of covering the gaping chasm in social services for the poorest of citizens.
nobody cares.

we just like a good snuff story.
