Father: Jesse Jackson Jr.'s impending prison release will be 'day of joy'

Former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.'s stay in a halfway house after he is released from a federal prison camp in Alabama on Thursday could be short.
Some inmates transition to home confinement the same day they enter a halfway house. Bureau of Prisons spokesman Edmond Ross said he did not know how soon Jackson could begin home confinement. However, he said, when inmates have a well-established family, stable home, strong community ties and a job, "they don't need as much time in a halfway house."
Ross declined to say exactly when Jackson will be released or where he will report next.
Jackson's father, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, said Wednesday that he will pick up his 50-year-old son from the prison accompanied by his wife, his son's wife, former Ald. Sandi Jackson, and the couple's two children, and drive him to a halfway house. Jackson declined to give the location of the halfway house.
