Sen. Dan Coats (R-IN) announced on Tuesday that he has decided not to run for re-election.

The Indiana politics site Indy Politics reported the news on Tuesday, and said that Coats would not run for re-election in 2016.

According to Indy Politics, Coates said that he decided not to run because he would have to spend the next two years campaigning instead of serving full-time as a senator. He would also be nearly 80 if he won the next re-election.
