Harrison Ford Reported Fair After Plane Crash
Source: NBC
Actor Harrison Ford was injured Thursday when a vintage World War II training plane he was piloting crash landed on a Mar Vista, California, golf course.
The actor, who was conscious and breathing when rescue crews reached him, was stabilized and taken to a hospital, where he was in fair to moderate condition, authorities said. Sources said he sustained cuts to his head. There was no word on other injuries or what caused the plane to crash. It appeared he was flying solo.
Howard Tabe, an employee at Penmar Golf Course, said, "There was blood all over his face. ... Two very fine doctors were treating him, taking good care of him. I helped put a blanket under his hip."
The plane crashed on the eighth tee at the golf course just west of the airport shortly after takeoff from the Santa Monica Airport, according to Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration, NBC Los Angeles reported.

(43 posts)...there were a couple of doctors present and they did render assistance. Mr. Ford is also supposed to make a full recovery. The Force was with him.

(246 posts)That was my first thought. If I had a choice on where to crash land a plane a golf course would be my first choice. Best chances of getting a doctor or a lawyer quickly.

(18,645 posts)True story.
It was early morning and I was driving down an almost empty street in downtown Los Angeles.
A light ahead, next to the Disney Music Hall, turned green so I continued at full speed when Harrison Ford suddenly dashed across the street towards the theater right in front of me. I had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting him.
He seems to actually be Indy-like in taking chances.
Hope he isn't injured badly and pulls through.

(5,902 posts)I once had the honor of meeting him and his wife, Calista Flockhart. Good people.
It was a chance meeting while walking my dogs, and obviously it was just for a moment - but I can attest that he certainly has a soft spot for dogs. My kind of person.
All the best to him, to Calista, and their loved ones. He'll pull through and come out of this better than ever!

You take care, now.

(18 posts)Relieved that Harrison Ford survived the crash, without major injuries. I congratulate him for making an expert landing on the golf course, and being able to avoid any innocent bystanders. Back in the 40's Howard Hughes was in a similar predicament, tried to land on a nearby golf course, just ran out of time and hit some houses. Shown to great effect in the Scorsese film "The Aviator".
Get well, Mr. Ford!
